The company is certified ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 Different glass types can be used as raw materials to structure components, such as, but not limited to, fused silica, borosilicate, or alkali-free glass. The minimum feature size range is a few microns, while the maximum working area is currently 300mm in diameter and 30mm in thickness.     Fiber connectivity goes 2D and seeks sub-micron alignment precision! Fiber-connectivity for datacom applications, specifically for the new AI-enabling data centers, is nowadays moving from 1D to 2D fiber arrays, which allow the integration of way more channels per surface unit, thus increasing the level of miniaturization, improving the transmission speed, and reducing the overall energy consumption. FEMTOprint’s glass micro-manufacturing technology enables the fabrication of high precision glass ferrules with 1D V-grooves or 2D hole arrays, which can meet the stringent requirements on both precision and tolerances accuracy for fiber-to-chip alignment demanded by our customers in datacom & telecom to comply with the performance standards set for their final products. We kicked off the summer in FEMTOprint SA’s grand style with our Company 𝗕𝗕𝗤! 🍔 Our annual summer barbecue is a moment of relaxation that gives us lightness, positive energy and reinforces our team spirit, great feelings we then carry into our workdays. The grill was sizzling, the groups were buzzing, and the vibes were amazing.     INNOVATION IN FOCUS: FEMTOprint SA Role in Advanced Manufacturing With the Advanced Manufacturing Summit https://lnkd.in/d3CpgeZ6 behind us, we all needed a good weekend to digest everything we learned and organize our thoughts. Stay tuned for our takeaways from the summit! In the meantime, I had a productive pre-meeting discussion with one of our members FEMTOprint SA on my way to Neuchatel, gathering valuable ideas and insights. Femtoprint stands out with its expertise in selective laser etching, specializing in fast prototyping and small series production of 3D glass microdevices. Their advanced capabilities in 3D micro-fabrication in glass allow for high resolution and precision. Femtoprint can, on one hand, write intricate hollow structures like glass ferrules, v-grooves, and even complete mechanical joints into glass, while, on the other, create 3D waveguides for telecom applications by densifying the glass rather than subtracting it. Beyond their established expertise in the watch industry, biomedical, and microfluidics, they are now venturing into quantum technologies where they are developing complete 3D ion traps for atomic clocks, precision spectroscopy, sensing and beyond. Their maskless process enables fast prototyping and short production cycles, often within a few weeks. As Femtoprint celebrates its 10-year anniversary, they continue to expand their facilities and metrological capabilities, marking a decade of innovation and excellence in advanced manufacturing.
