Private philanthropy can power the global response to the growing mental health crisis. We are already seeing philanthropy playing a unique role as an agile catalyst to action on mental health, but more transparency is needed. Today we launched the ‘Power of Giving’ report at The REAL Summit conference, celebrating the top philanthropic funders financing global mental health in 2023. Combining publicly disclosed information and detailed follow-up, the Power of Giving report celebrates the private companies, foundations and individuals investing in action on mental health around the world. Here are the top contributors listed in the report and the amount they’ve donated: ➡️ Movember ($17.3M) ➡️ Fondation Botnar ($11.6M) ➡️ Z Zurich Foundation ($11.5M) ➡️ lululemon ($11.3M) ➡️ Pinterest ($10.9M) ➡️ Grand Challenges Canada ($7.1M) ➡️ Cotton On Foundation ($6.8M) ➡️ kate spade new york ($4.2M) ➡️ EMpower—The Emerging Markets Foundation ($3.2M) More private and public investment is needed to help prevent mental health problems and make sure everyone has access to the support they need, particularly in lower income countries. We encourage more to join those already providing effective funding and more transparency around the amount of private funding for action on mental health, along with the detail and impact of this investment. Download and share the first ever Power of Giving report here > https://lnkd.in/eQ29Cs56 If you are a funder or know an organisation who should be included in the 2025 global survey, please register the work on the link above.

Youth Engagement at the World Health Summit ✨ Yesterday, youth advocates and the WHO's Youth Council launched the Youth Declaration on Creating Healthy Societies—a powerful collective call for wellbeing, resilience, and trust. This declaration puts young people at the forefront of shaping healthier, more inclusive societies. Our Chief Programme Officer, Alexander Schulz, joined Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and youth champions and shared how Fondation Botnar is supporting youth-led solutions, with a focus on the Being Initiative, promoting mental health in low- and middle-income countries. At Fondation Botnar, we believe young people must be recognised as rights holders and integral in designing policies and programs. Co-hosted by Bertelsmann Stiftung and the World Health Organization's Youth Council, this session highlighted the essential role of youth in global health. ➡️ bit.ly/3BKprRK Digital Transformations for Health Lab #YouthLeadership #MentalHealth #GlobalHealth #WorldHealthSummit #YouthEngagement

#WorldMentalHealthDay reminds us that young people play a crucial role in mental health and shaping solutions globally. 🌍 Meaningful youth participation has been a central theme in our recent engagements, and we are excited to keep building off this momentum. ⬇️ 🎥✨ Watch our new video! 3 out of 4 people with mental health conditions develop them before they turn 24. That's why the #BeingInitiative works to address this challenge early on by investing in research, innovation and youth-led solutions. Watch now: https://bit.ly/3Ni0nEa Only 17% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are on track. 📖 With United for Global Mental Health, we launched our new report highlighting youth mental health's role in advancing the SDGs, from reducing inequalities to promoting decent work, sustainable cities and climate action. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3MTEF9i Last month, we were at the 🇺🇳 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, where we witnessed powerful calls to action that emphasized the need for youth participation, engagement, and prioritization. Here are our three major takeaways: ✅ Prioritize youth leadership. ✅ Locally led solutions drive impact. ✅ Collaboration maximizes our investments in mental health. 🔑Highlights from our time at #UNGA79: At the #YouthPowerSummit, Youth advisor Oriana Ortiz Parrao delivered a compelling message advocating for increased mental health financing and programming for young people. Watch her powerful remarks on our website! We proudly hosted our event, #BeingtheChange, which brought together funders, partners, and innovators committed to addressing youth mental health challenges. A highlight of the event was hearing from SameSame (SiyaFanaFana)'s Zimbabwe Lead, Trevor Ncube, on the difficulties of accessing mental health care in Zimbabwe and the valuable lessons from his work with LGBTQIA+ youth in the community. 👉🏽 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ekGFQX-9 Grand Challenges Canada Fondation Botnar United for Global Mental Health Orygen Science for Africa Foundation NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada Global Mental Health Action Network Restless Development #WMHD2024 #YouthMentalHealth
