🌟Switzerland further strengthens its positioning as a place of jurisdiction for international disputes🌟 📢On 1 January 2025, Switzerland will adhere to the Hague Convention on the Choice of Court Agreements. The Swiss Federal Council set 1 January 2025 as the date of entry into force of the corresponding amendment to the Federal Act on Private International Law (PILA). In particular, the adherence to the Convention: 👉aims to establish Switzerland as an important jurisdiction for international conflict resolution by allowing the Swiss judgments in international civil and commercial disputes to be recognized and enforceable within the contracting states (and vice versa). 👉enables to strengthen and secure trade relations with countries not bound by the Lugano Convention, including the UK. 👉increases the predictability of cross-border litigation for businesses and reduces the costs involved as all contracting States to the Convention are obliged to recognize and enforce the decisions of a chosen court. https://lnkd.in/eVHu45CM https://lnkd.in/eCCJ7b6R #internationaldisputes #jurisdictionclause #crossborderlitigation

The Ordre des avocats de Genève, in collaboration with leading law firms and key stakeholders from Geneva's legal and business communities, has brought this vision to life.
