The patented high performance Spabond 800 epoxy adhesive range has been developed for the bonding of large structures such as wind turbine blades. It features a longer working time of up to 2 hours at elevated temperatures for thick bondlines and allows for a fast 1-hour cure at elevated temperatures. Spabond 800 has lower toxicity for improved H&S, and excellent mechanical properties for structural reliability. PRIME™ 37 is an ideal epoxy infusion system for large components, with relatively thick sections, as experienced by Airborne, developer of automation manufacturing systems for composite components. It was important to Airborne that they could control the reactivity, especially with varying temperature conditions between seasons. The custom hardener speeds meant they could optimize the system, balancing pot life with cure speed. Low viscosity and outstanding wetting properties allowed for fast injection times.
