This year too, we were among the main sponsors of the FFDUL (“Human Rights Film Festival Lugano”), now in its eleventh edition. From 10 to 20 October, the Festival screened over 30 films, telling stories of inequality and violation of human rights, also through meetings with experts, witnesses and activists from various NGOs. A complete map of a fruit fly's brain has been traced out for the first time.   This great scientific achievement will help to shine a light on the countless mysteries that still surround our own brains, given that fruit flies share 60% of human DNA. [Discovering Fellowships 🔬] Glucocorticoid drugs are essential for many patients, due to their powerful anti-inflammatory action, but their side effects can compromise the quality of life. In 2020, Jan Kroon was the winner of the IBSA Foundation Fellowships in the endocrinology area: his research is aimed at identifying the cofactors responsible for the development of these contraindications. New discovery: a nanorobot capable of killing cancer cells without damaging the healthy ones! A team of oncologists have designed a nanorobot able to distinguish between cancer cells and healthy cells, resulting in more targeted and effective treatments.
