Info
ILGA World – the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association - is a worldwide federation of more than 1,700 organisations from over 160 countries and territories campaigning for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex human rights. We want a world where the human rights of all are respected and where everyone can live in equality and freedom: a world where global justice and equity are assured and established regardless of people’s sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics (SOGIESC). Established in 1978, ILGA World has ECOSOC consultative status at the United Nations. Our member organisations are based in our six regions: Pan Africa ILGA, ILGA Asia, ILGA-Europe, ILGALAC (Latin America and the Caribbean), ILGA North America and ILGA Oceania. Governed by an elected Board of 19 activists representing our global family, ILGA World is queer democracy in action!

Happy International Pronouns Day! Being referred to by the wrong pronouns particularly affects trans and gender-nonconforming people. It is impossible to assume someone’s pronouns based on how they look. Using the preferred pronouns shows you respect the person you are interacting with and creates a safe space. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities. Happy #ComingOutDay! Today, we celebrate and empower LGBTI individuals who have decided to be visible and live life out loud. While we recognise the importance of visibility, let us remmeber that people decide when and how to be visible and that must be respected. As a community, we have achieved a great deal but there is still more to be done. Let us continue to work toward a society where people can be free and live their authentic lives without fear. IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The illustration shows a group of diverse people hugging and celebrating. The background shows the colours of the Pride flag. The image reads: “Coming Out Day, 11 October” The ILGA World logo sits at the bottom left of the image.
