📢 Our 2023 Annual Report is now published! In 2023, the global humanitarian landscape faced unprecedented challenges as the funding gap widened amidst escalating needs. A trend which continues to test the sectors' ability to respond effectively to crises worldwide. It is at such a juncture that IMPACT’s work becomes most urgent. As Luca Pupulin, IMPACT Initiatives Chief Executive Officer, notes: “Through our growing capability to deliver actionable evidence where it is most needed—including in hard-to-reach areas—we play an increasingly crucial role in supporting international solidarity mechanisms to prioritize the most vulnerable. As questions arise about the international solidarity system and its humanitarian architecture, our responsibility to contribute to the evidence base that supports it has never been greater.” In 2023, IMPACT conducted nearly 600,000 interviews and published over 1,500 information products to inform decision-making processes to prioritize aid where it is most needed. Our annual report is now available in both printable PDF and digital formats, highlights this extensive work across the 34 countries where we operate. From global to local - a journey in Durable Solution assessments (2010-2024) In the first phase of an EU in Emergencies-funded project on the area-based assessment of durable solutions to internal displacement, we asked: How have solutions been measured and assessed since 2010, and what can we learn from existing approaches? 🌍 20+ partners from UN agencies, NGOs, and universities provided input and feedback. 👥 4 dedicated staff from the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) and IMPACT Initiatives conducted research, presented results, and facilitated sessions. 🎯 3 goals: avoiding duplication, ensuring complementarity, and learning from existing efforts. 📚 2 workshops on durable solutions measurement and assessment recently delivered. 📄 1 report with findings based on an extensive literature review and consultations. Next up: Recommendations and findings from this stocktaking and mapping process are informing the development of an IDMC-IMPACT toolkit for the area-based assessment of solutions, to be piloted in three countries. Our goal is to facilitate the collection, analysis and use of data to inform local programming on solutions for displacement-affected communities.

🚨 #Lebanon | Displacement Impact and Rapid Needs Assessment – Beirut Governorate 🚨 REACH have conducted Displacement Impact and Rapid Needs Assessment (DIRNA) aiming at providing a rapid snapshot of the impact of conflict-induced displacement on access to essential services as well as priority needs of IDPs out of official collective sites in Beirut Governorate. It also aims to present the impact on host communities' access to services and their priority needs. Key insights: • As of 21st of October, the majority of the population seems to be able to, at least partially, meet their basic needs. However, if the crisis persists, rising prices and reduced financial resources, coupled with loss of livelihoods are likely to erode households' capacity to fulfil them. • Amid rising demand for shelter, many displaced households are forced into unsafe living conditions. Efforts to expand affordable and adequate shelter options will be critical, especially as winter approaches. • Access to essential services is increasingly difficult for both displaced and host communities. Education has been severely disrupted by the closure of schools and the health system, severely weaken by past crisis, faces increasing strain. 🚨 Lebanon | Regional Displacement Overview - October 2024 🚨 Our latest Regional Displacement Overview map is now available on our resource centre, offering insights into recent developments in displacement across #Lebanon and neighboring countries. Key insights: - Displacement-affected locations include rural agricultural communities that are economically vulnerable, as well as Syrian and Palestinian refugee populations, and migrants; - Significant cross-border movements, with a potential rise in women and children completing these journeys, while protection concerns limit male mobility at border points; - IMPACT is currently conducting primary data collection to better understand the needs of displaced populations and those remaining in conflict-affected zones.
