Calling all women!   Please do come along to IPLOCA events and join in IPLOCA activities generally. While the number of women in our industry has steadily increased since I started my career in 1989, (when such things as rigger boots in my size did not exist), we do need to continually put ourselves out there to act as a beacon for other women and to shine a light on the opportunities generally for women in IPLOCA and the industry generally. IPLOCA membership confers many benefits to help you do this. Personally, I have been able to meet senior owners, directors, and employees of the main firms in the business which has enabled me to keep up to date with developments and tap into a wider pool of knowledge and experience. It has also led to my company (RSK Group plc) contributing to IPLOCA and the industry generally through membership of IPLOCA’s HSE committee and requests for support on specialist items that our company can provide such as carbon accounting, environmental and social impact assessment, and training on environmental and social/CSR issues. And I should not forget to mention that IPLOCA events are good fun and an excellent opportunity to make friends in the industry! There were perhaps a record number of women attending the recent HSE Novel Construction seminar at Windsor and I know we all found it stimulating and informative. So lets keep it up!
