‼️EUROPE BREAKING‼️ From the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg: This morning, the Advocate General has recommended the dismissal of the European Commission’s case against Malta’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme, suggesting that the Commission should bear its own costs and those of Malta. While this opinion is non-binding, it offers insight into the next steps following the June 17 hearings. A final ruling on the legality of Malta’s CBI Programme is expected by late 2024 or early 2025. We are deeply saddened by the loss of IMC member Mr. Nima Korpivaara. His remarkable spirit and work ethic touched us all. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues at KLD LLP during this difficult time. Nima's legacy will continue to inspire us, and he will be sincerely missed.

Our IT systems are fully functional, and your data is SAFE. We are not impacted by the global CrowdStrike IT outage as yet and working hard to ensure this does not affect us. In March, this year we undertook a deep dive audit of our IT security which led us to roll out several upgrades investing tens of thousands of Swiss Francs to ensure the IMC IT infrastructure is robust. We hope all our members and network are not affected. As this is an evolving situation we will keep our community posted on any developments.

📢 Important Announcement! 📢 On May 30, 2024, the European Union (EU) adopted a ground-breaking anti-money laundering (AML) and countering financing of terrorism (CFT) legislative package. Key components of the legislative package are: 1. AMLA Regulation (AMLA-R): Establishes and empowers a new Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA). 2. Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR): Harmonizes rules related to customer due diligence (CDD), reporting, transparency concerning beneficial owners, and anonymous instruments. 3. 6th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD 6): Introduces reforms that member states must implement into their national laws. 4. Investment Migration Operators to become Obliged Entities (OE) within the new legislation.
