On October 22, IPMA representatives Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović, IPMA President and Prof. Dr. Ronggui Ding IPMA Vice-President had a productive meeting with Mr. Liu Jinzhang, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Construction Industry Association (CCIA), at CCIA’s headquarters in Beijing. As China’s largest federation of engineering construction enterprises, CCIA encompasses over 5,500 large enterprises and provincial associations, including leading names such as China Construction Group, China Communications Group, and China Road and Bridge Group. With more than 700,000 registered constructors, CCIA awards the prestigious Luban Award, recognized as the highest honor in China's construction industry. The meeting resulted in a consensus on enhancing collaboration between IPMA and CCIA, focusing on developing new standards, joint certification for construction project management, personnel training, and organizing shared events. Notably, both parties agreed to update the IPMA-CCIA cooperation agreement to better align with current needs and emerging industry trends. A special thanks to PMRC - IPMA Member Association in China, represented by Dr. Lixiong Ou, Deputy Director, for their efforts in expanding networks and facilitating these productive discussions. From October 21 to 23, 2024, the President of IPMA, Prof. Mladen Vukomanović, alongside Vice-Presidents Ronggui Ding and Vladimir Obradovicć, visited several leading enterprises and industry associations in China. The delegation reached a consensus on the future direction of cooperation, achieving significant outcomes. On the afternoon of October 21, the IPMA team met with Mr. Wu Bing, General Manager of Huawei’s Project Management Capability Promotion Center, at Huawei’s headquarters in Bantian, Shenzhen. Huawei, a global ICT leader with 210,000 employees, considers project management a core business unit, requiring at least 75% of its managers to have project management experience. The company has developed its own project management association and certification system. During this meeting, Huawei expressed a strong interest in deepening collaboration with IPMA, focusing on research into methodologies, tools, and systems of smart project management. This partnership aims to drive further innovation in unexplored areas of the field. IPMA at the Heart of Africa’s Project Management Growth! 🚀 IPMA has supported the Fifth Edition of the Pan-African Project Management Conference in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from October 23-25, 2024. As a key member of the advisory committee and one of the featured speakers, IPMA joined forces with our four African IPMA Member Associations to champion project management excellence across the continent. Themed “Standards and Quality for Project Success in Africa,” this biennial event emphasized the importance of robust project management frameworks for sustainable success.
