At our recent Future Forward innovation event, our colleagues at our HQ in Geneva had the opportunity to learn from experts, engage with innovators and share their own ideas. We invited startups to pitch their out-of-the-box ideas to our audience of employees, sparking inspiring discussions. With 12 interactive booths featuring cutting-edge solutions and hands-on experiences, our teams from markets and different parts of the business showcased how we're turning bold ideas into real-world impact. For example, our sales teams in the Philippines use AI-driven tool designed to help them work more efficiently. It was a great way to learn and see firsthand the progress we've made and the initiatives underway that help us create fulfilling moments. GEA Arama Kurtarma, a Turkey-based international search and rescue group, is one of the longest-standing partners of the JTI Foundation. They were among the first and fastest organizations to respond to massive earthquakes that struck central regions of their home country in February 2023. GEA deployed its volunteers to 118 debris sites and rescued 41 survivors - the biggest mission in its 29-year history, which took a massive toll on their equipment. The JTI Foundation will fund a complete renewal of its inventory to fully rebuild and strengthen GEA’s readiness for rapid disaster response. At JTI, we're committed to sustainable agriculture. In 2023, our agronomy field technicians partnered with over 65,000 directly contracted growers, empowering them to improve the productivity and quality of their tobacco crops. Through this collaboration, we were able to share best practices, introduce innovative techniques, and offer tailored advice to help each grower improve the productivity and quality of their tobacco crops. Today, at the annual flagship conference of the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus (JCC) in Geneva, Lucine Ovumyan, Senior VP Corporate Affairs & Communications, and Ramunas Macius, Fiscal & Anti-Illicit Trade VP, participated in a discussion with representatives of the international community on “Trade and Investment in Central Asia and the South Caucasus: Expanding Regional Cooperation and Improving Business Climate."   During a panel discussion, Ramunas highlighted illicit trade as a challenge to the national economies in the region: “Central Asia and South Caucasus region is a great place to do business due to its geographical position, educated employees, growing economies and population. Unfortunately, the positive outlook is overshadowed by a growing illegal trade in tobacco products. It not only undermines the interests and prosperity of legitimate businesses and corporate investments, but it also massively drains government tax revenues, fuels criminality, and destabilizes society. We must reclaim the trillions captured by criminals and redirect this money into legal streams that countries desperately need.”   JTI will continue to invest in supporting governments in their anti-illicit trade efforts and in securing our supply chains against counterfeit and contraband products. #illegaltrade #AntiIllicitTrade
