“World water week”: Protecting water In our JT Group Sustainability Targets, we commit to supporting global water stewardship by reducing our water use and encouraging water risk management in our supply chain. By 2030, we aim to decrease water use associated with our tobacco business by 33% compared to 2019 levels. Almost 130,000 people in Bogor, outside Indonesia’s megacity Jakarta, have been benefitting from JTI’s new water and sanitation project – and this is just after one year! Low-income families now live in houses with proper latrines and sanitation; construction work funded through the project has been improving the community’s waterpipe network and providing individual households with access to fresh water. Additionally, the renovation of health posts will help improve children’s health, prevent malnutrition and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. JTI’s global WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiative is well on track to reach its ambitious goal of providing one million people with access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene by the end of 2025. We're thrilled to announce a significant milestone for JTI: Approximately €30 million to be invested in a new facility at our site in Trier, Germany. Expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026, production at this facility will focus on supplying key components of Ploom X's heated tobacco sticks, reflecting our commitment to invest in the Reduced-Risk Products category. #HeatedTobacco #PloomX #Investment

🍃Transforming rural communities in Central Nepal Supported by the JTI Foundation, Bighnaharta Nepal's bioengineering program is delivering important economic and ecological benefits to indigenous communities. Now, the Foundation’s Board has approved its next stage of expansion. The initiative starts with the planting of broom grass, which improves the stability and quality of uncultivated and degraded soil, reducing the risks of flooding and landslides. Then, members of the local communities are trained to turn broom grass into brooms, creating a new income stream. And now, the introduction of a digital application will promote wider engagement – new elements include political engagement, workshops and the recycling of broom grass agricultural waste into the local paper manufacturing industry.   JT Group to Acquire Vector Group Ltd.   On August 21, we reached an agreement to acquire Vector Group Ltd., the fourth largest tobacco company in the United States.   We aim to complete the transaction by the end of JT Group’s current fiscal year, ending December 31.   In line with JT Group’s tobacco business strategy, this acquisition will add a growing and profitable business, improving our return on investment (ROI) in combustibles. In 2023, 88% of our packaging, including plastic, is now reusable or recyclable! We're well on our way to achieving 100% recyclability by 2030. In addition, 19% of our packaging is made from recycled content, bringing us closer to our 20% target by 2025.
