Think you've figured out your approach method of EU distributors? Think twice! It changed recently, and you probably haven't noticed. Here's what we observed 👇 1. Distributors have less attention time for new opportunities than ever before. > Prepare a straight-to-the-point pitch: what's in it for them? > Will they make good margins? > Will it be easy to sell? 2. Distributors want you to be involved and caring. > Did you take time to prepare a PowerPoint in their language? > Are you ready to travel to meet them? > Will you prepare marketing materials or actions to make their life easier? 3. Distributors have difficulty recruiting staff; thus, they prefer to double down on the existing portfolio. > How do your products fit and complement their existing portfolio? > How do you reduce their working hours and increase their margins? 4. Distributors don't buy into nonsense arguments like "My products are the best," "It sells in a blink of an eye," or "I have the best quality." To which your distributor will think: "OK, Joe, 100s brands told me the same last year; I'm here to generate revenues, not dream of potential sales in LaLaLand." > So... BACK IT UP WITH NUMBERS! Sales potential from a market study, Product returns, Churn ratio, Client longevity, etc. 5. Most distributors are too busy to reply to your first call or email. > Don't be too pushy, but be persuasive and persistent. Our team needs 5-8 points of contact to get a reply from distributors we prospect on behalf of clients; yours will probably need the same. It's common sense: Be genuine in your approach. You want to establish a long-term relationship.
