Where does bio-cement come from? A new peer-reviewed study led by our co-founder Dimitrios Terzis, in collaboration with University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland and supported by Innosuisse, takes us back to the origin story of the microorganisms behind our technology. 🧫 By isolating 50 environmental strains from a grassland in Ticino – naturally rich in calcium – our team identified robust microorganisms which are omnipresent in soils and groundwater, capable of producing the enzymes that trigger #recarbonation. These strains were cultivated in industrial bioreactors with meticulous quality control. The best part? This scale-up path can reduce production costs by up to 40% and answer to the biggest bottlenecks associated to bio-cementation: 🏗️ While interest grows around microbial-based #biocement solutions, our team continues to push the frontier with in-situ and mobile applications for roads, riverbanks, and critical infrastructure across Europe and beyond tackling significant reductions in #carbon and #nitrogen emissions. Biocimentation en milieux argileux : une avancée majeure pour la protection contre l’érosion Après une première mise en œuvre réussie, nous franchissons une nouvelle étape : l’extension de la biocimentation à grande échelle en France et aux pays-Bas pour la stabilisation d’ouvrages en terre sous des conditions environnementales extrêmes. Face à l’intensification des tempêtes et à la montée du niveau de la mer, la préservation des infrastructures devient une priorité absolue. Nos solutions innovantes, développées spécifiquement pour les sols argileux, démontrent une résistance durable à l’érosion, même sous des assauts climatiques sévères. 🔹 30 tonnes de digues biocimentées ont prouvé leur efficacité en conditions extrêmes. 🔹 +0,5 m d’élévation du niveau de la mer entre les saisons, +2 m de vague de tempête, vents à 100 km/h : nos solutions résistent là où les argiles s’affaiblissent. 🔹 Seulement 5 % de perte de masse du sol après une exposition prolongée des argiles aux éléments. Les solutions développées par Medusoil s’intègrent directement dans le sol pour en renforcer la structure, réduisant la dépendance aux techniques conventionnelles coûteuses et à fort impact environnemental. 📢 Avec cette nouvelle avancée, nous étendons désormais notre intervention à des digues et des remblais plus vastes, sur des géologies variées. Un pas de plus vers des infrastructures plus résilientes et durables.
