Back from – again – a wonderful edition of the #ISMAUSD 2024 conference, filled with many outstanding contributions. Together with my #Siemens Strategy&Innovation team members and colleagues (Davide Bizzarri, Filippo Capurso, Davide Fleres, Matteo Depaola, Gwendal Jouan, Robin Bornoff and Onur Atak) and as part of our ongoing research collaboration with KU Leuven Mecha(tro)nic System Dynamics (LMSD) (Flanders Make @ KU Leuven), we had the pleasure to present several topics and results related to our work on executable Digital Twins and their applications. The 2nd MIRELAI project meeting has come to a successful end. It has been an intensive, exciting week with many new ideas and insights for our doctoral candidates. The students themselves gave promising presentations on their project progress and received lectures on research project management by accelopment, uncertainty quantification at the microscale by Politecnico di Milano, non-organic materials in microelectronics by Materials Center Leoben Forschung GmbH and physics of degradation of polymers and modelling of polymers in microelectronics by Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL). Further, we had the great opportunity to visit the Austrian MIRELAI industry partners AT&S and ams OSRAM. Exciting and interesting social events rounded off the program. It was a personal pleasure to see how the young researchers are building a future-oriented, sustainable network of experts within key players in microelectronics throughout Europe.
