The Munich Re Weather & Commodity team collaborated with kWh Analytics to create a parametric wind hedging product for a 59 MW wind project in Maine, consisting of 14 turbines. This initiative was undertaken in partnership with an investment entity linked to Greenbacker Capital Management. This innovative risk management solution facilitated by Munich Re enabled the project sponsor to secure approximately 20% additional debt capital for the project. #WeatherDerivatives #MunichReParametrics #RenewableEnergy

💡 ⛈ 🌡 💡 To offer some straightforward, educational content about #parametric, especially for #agriculture, I’ll be featuring a series of “Case Stories” in the coming weeks developed using live inquiries #MunichReTradingLLC has received from real businesses so you can see how Weather & Crop-Yield Index Derivatives are applied in real-life situations. These are meant to show context and client's thought process, not to announce successful transactions (some traded, some didn't). To maintain confidentiality, client details have been partly obfuscated. Enjoy! #munichre Marcel-Steffen Reif Rainer Hartmann

💡 Interesting idea 💡 Why not embed a grain yield hedge as part of an asset acquisition like this? By guaranteeing yield over the asset's trade footprint in the commodities that matter to cash flow, you guarantee cash flow and return. Instead of targeting return you then guarantee it. And you can be more confident in your negotiation process and earn higher ROI. That same logic applies to a new plant build like in the renewable biodiesel space where a plant's performance is heavily dependent on yields like soybeans, for example. 🤯
The Scoular Co. has acquired three #grain handling facilities from Skyland Grain near its Pratt, Kansas, US, shuttle-loader, more than doubling the company’s storage capacity in the region. The facilities in Trousdale, Cullison and Greensburg expand the company’s footprint in central Kansas, where it operates a shuttle-loading facility in nearby Pratt. → https://ow.ly/vW2w50QwlNS #agriculture #agribusiness #Kansas
