A collaboration between Generative Center, Lugano Living Lab, xocolat art, hortopia.org & nominute.city
Nominute.City is a research initiative introducing a new approach to understanding and designing urban livability through the lens of temporality. Rooted in phenomenological principles, the project examines the multiple layers of urban fabric: the daily experiences of urban populations, the perceptual impact of built environments, and the conceived space shaped by historical narratives. This layered approach highlights the mythological dimension of urban spaces, especially significant in the case of Lugano.
Case Study: Lugano
We will explore Lugano as a case study, examining how mythological layers persist in contemporary urban contexts, transcending generations and finding new resonance through emerging technologies. Particular focus will be given to post-efficiency scenarios and a multigenerational urban population, where generative narratives and creative technologies offer new temporal experiences beyond traditional metrics of efficiency and socio-economic growth.
17.30 - 19.00
THE MYTHOLOGICAL LAYER OF CITIES ACROSS GENERATIONS
Contemporary cities host an increasing number of generations coexisting in the same urban space. In this context, the mythological dimension plays a key role, acting as a bridge between generations and their conception of urban space through narratives. Simultaneously, this generational diversity calls for new approaches to urban storytelling, considering varying life rhythms and different methods of telling and listening among a generation deeply immersed in digital technology.
19.30 . 21.00
THE GROWTH OF NARRATIVE FABRIC THROUGH POST EFFICIENCY SCENARIOS
Automation and artificial intelligence are transforming our relationship with urban productivity and opening a debate about how to use newfound leisure time in a post-growth society. In this transformative context, there is an opportunity to explore a temporal dimension beyond the efficiency paradigm, offering a future space for storytelling and engagement with the mythological “layer” of the places we inhabit. Urban quality of life thus takes on new meanings: traditional productive efficiency is integrated with a richer, layered narrative fabric, enabling communities to rediscover and celebrate their local stories while adapting to new rhythms and modes of urban life.
