About one in four women experience heavy menstrual bleeding throughout their lives. Some may become desensitised to heavy menstrual bleeding, or think it's normal and might be reluctant to discuss it with their doctor. Heavy menstrual bleeding is a warning sign for von Willebrand disease (VWD), the most common congential bleeding disoder in the world. If you are worried, visit vwdtest.com for information about abnormal bleeding and take a simple online test to see if your bleeding symptoms merit further investigation. #BleedingDisordersAwarenessMonth #vonwillebranddisease #VWD

For the first time in almost 30 years, NHS patients are receiving medicines made using UK-donated plasma. As the sole manufacturer of these plasma-derived medicines for the Plasma for Medicines (PfM) programme, this is a major milestone for us and our partners at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS England (NHSE), and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). The medicines we produce are relied on every day by thousands of UK patients with chronic diseases and immune deficiencies and are also used in emergencies for the critically ill following trauma, burns or surgery. This unique partnership is building a more resilient supply chain for patients nationwide, reducing the country’s reliance on medicines made using imported plasma. To mark Rare Disease Day on February 28, we share her story. Awareness is key to earlier diagnosis, more effective treatment, and improved quality of life for patients suffering from rare diseases.
