Info
Truck & ship industry are together responsible for more than 10% of global CO₂ emissions and are part of the hard-to-decarbonize sector. There is a strong pressure to bring rapid changes! However, the current solutions, like hydrogen and electric vehicles, are not ready to clean these sectors before decades. This is why we are committed to a greener tomorrow and our mission is to solve the climate change challenge in the transportation industry by capturing the emissions at their source. With our plug-in technology, our solution is able to capture up to 90% of the emitted CO₂, store it in liquid form directly onboard and recycle it (fuel, plastics, building materials, CO₂ sequestration).

Three Portfolio Companies on a Global Stage Last week, BlackWood proudly participated in Expand North Star in Dubai, the world’s largest gathering of startups and investors. Three of our portfolio companies—Sirius, Qaptis, and Sidekick—joined us, showcasing transformative solutions in technology, finance, and sustainability. In the photo, Theodore Caby from Qaptis presents their carbon capture technology designed for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs), a sector responsible for a substantial share of global emissions. With the ability to reduce HDV emissions by up to 90%, Qaptis offers a viable solution to help the transport sector meet its decarbonization targets. This is precisely the type of scalable, high-impact innovation that BlackWood supports in cleantech. Throughout the event, Sirius, focused on sustainability in metals and mining, and Sidekick, a leader in wealth management solutions, connected with top-tier investors, partners, and potential clients. Each of these companies is pushing boundaries and redefining its industry. Representing BlackWood, Abbas Kazmi shared the Future Planet Stage at Dubai Harbour, discussing Sustainable Leadership & Climate Tech with an esteemed group of leaders, including Linzi Boyd, Founder of One Earth; Lewis Chen 陳立偉, General Director of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院) (ITRI); Elvina Garayeva, Debt Director for the EECA Region at Incofin Investment Management; Hans Larsen, Manager of Digital Economy Acceleration at Dubai Chambers; Bolormaa Luvsandorj, Founder of Kite Mongolia; and Pratap Raju, Founding Partner of Climate Collective. Expand North Star provided a fantastic platform for our founders to shine. We are proud of their vision, ambition, and global impact. The future is bright for these innovators—this is only the beginning. Ad astra!

What better way to end this summer than by celebrating our #20 spot in the #TOP100SSU with a party? As our co-founder & COO said in his speech, the past year at Qaptis has been filled with success, hard work, and, let's be honest, challenges to overcome. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and passion of our team, advisors, partners, investors, family and friends. Thank you all for being part of our journey!
