The 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐔.𝐒., 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 lead the charge, with Switzerland standing out as a global biotech powerhouse, home to giants like Roche, Novartis, and cutting-edge MedTech startups. But the #GCC is making bold moves to join this elite club. That’s why my visit to Khalifa University (KU) was particularly exciting. It’s the most prestigious fundamental science university in the GCC, proving that biotech isn’t just for legacy players. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Abdulrahim Sajini a world-trained 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 & 𝐑𝐍𝐀 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 leading groundbreaking research in human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), RNA modifications, and Emirati-specific metabolic disorders. His lab created the UAE’s first-ever Emirati hiPSCs, named UAE001, laying the foundation for precision medicine tailored to the region. With 5.3𝐌 𝐀𝐄𝐃+ 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝, and expertise sharpened at 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, Dr. Sajini is bridging science and commercialization—a rare but crucial combination in biotech. 𝐄𝐱-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐌𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 to 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 Maybe it’s the alum life talking and I’m a tad biased but I just had to share my two cents after catching up with 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐒𝐋 𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 of Switzerland 🇨🇭Joseph Deiss He is a titan in Swiss politics—and even led the United Nations General Assembly —his words hit differently. At the “Our World in Question: Ruptures and Future” event at the University of Lausanne organized by the Fondation Jean Monnet pour l'Europe and led by Gilles Grin he questioned whether #Switzerland can really stick to its famed neutrality in today’s ever-shifting world, or if it’s bound to lean toward the #USA or the #EU I might be a tad biased, but as a proud of Doctor of Business School Lausanne (BSL) hearing him speak really got me thinking about how our shared past shapes our view of the future.
