👀 Your name affects ChatGPT more than you might think OpenAI recently shared research revealing that a user’s name can influence ChatGPT’s responses: “Research has shown that language models can still sometimes absorb and repeat social biases from training data, such as gender or racial stereotypes.” For instance, when someone with a traditionally feminine name asks for a YouTube title, ChatGPT might suggest cooking ideas, while offering general life hacks to someone with a traditionally masculine name. “Names often carry cultural, gender, and racial associations, making them a relevant factor for investigating bias — especially since users frequently share their names with ChatGPT for tasks like drafting emails” , — explain OpenAI researchers. These biases are more commonly seen in older models, like ChatGPT 3.5, though newer versions can also occasionally display them. Let’s look at three examples. 📊 Unstructured to Structured Data How many people in your company read through different kinds of reports or free-text records to extract numbers or make judgments? If your answer is at least one, then you could already explore if GenAI can do this work faster and more accurately. GenAI never gets tired and is much more likely to generate consistent results. 📝 Structured to Unstructured Data How much time does your team spend observing results from analytical dashboards and spreadsheets? Even if this information is displayed in an intuitive form, in many cases, you need to go through high volumes of information to make decisions. This can slow down your decision-making process. However, GenAI can quickly analyse information, write you a summary if needed, and advise you on what actions to take. 🤖 Intelligent Agents Building on the first two examples, it is possible to implement autonomous agents that search for unstructured information, convert it into a structured format, analyse the information, make decisions, and trigger actions.
