🥁 Terraview is now GAMAYA 🤝
I started Terraview with Piyush in 2019 and in these 5+ years, we raised $5mn, built a 3 continent business, survived 3 near deaths, experimented, failed and failed more and finally learnt. 🏗
We went from thinking of building and operating drones, to building nano-satellites, to settling for agritech’s lifeline “sentinel 2”.
We did door to door sales, sold hardware as a bundle, had SDR’s call 1000’s of growers everyday, did events, met cooperatives, agronomists and local influencers & more.
Believed that we were offering so much intelligence, providing such good value, had a great product but the growers never saw enough value!
🤯 Weren't Yield Estimation, Water and Disease their top problems? And they had NO tech!
It’s the story of all Precision Ag companies globally. We all went through the same journey.
We all were stupid and arrogant
👨🌾 We forgot that agriculture is hard and there is a good reason for it. It is the trade of the brave, one being done for generations by folks who have a technology trust deficit
And we all were taught a lesson by the growers/farmers.
But we are finally getting to wiser times! ⛳
The Ag Tech industry is now 20+ harvests old, it is time to combine aligned & sub/mid scaled products to provide reliable intelligence, factor agronomic wisdom and deliver measurable outcomes for enterprise and growers.
📣 Excited to write (a little delayed) that TerraviewOS has merged with GAMAYA to cross leverage crop knowledge, sectorial understanding and existing cutting edge products to solve for unmet needs of respective food systems, including decarbonisation & water usage, which are central to sustainability. The combined entity will continue to operate under the GAMAYA brand.
The current focus will be on Sugarcane and Grapes, with plans to add more crop value chains to the fold in future. 🎯
GAMAYA has an incredible leader in Yury Vasilkov who has built great products at scale in the agriculture space globally and I will be eagerly watching on the sides and supporting as he builds GAMAYA from hereon.
Excited to be on the same team as Taha Benmrad and looking forward to learning from him.
Finally and most importantly, thank you Binny Bansal for being a great partner on this journey, for trusting me with his time and capital, for the belief, for all the hard conversations and for being him. Grateful.
Ankit, Kalyan & Sujeet, thank you for your support and also a big thank you to some of our special advisors & friends, David Jordan (DJ), Peter Hayes, Hans Loder, Jeff Baccus, Nova Cadamatre MW, JT Jaeger, Marta Juega, PhD and manuel del rincón sanz.
Thank you everyone who worked and helped build Terraview, esp. Lluís Nache, Vitor Fonseca, Amin A. and Saurav Verma, for their contribution.
Wishing GAMAYA all the success. Onwards & Upwards 🚀
