At #AHTS24, Adda F., The Global Fund CFO, shared compelling insights on the organization’s commitment to investing in #Africa’s #healthcare sector. She announced that over the next three years, The Global Fund will allocate more than $1.8 billion towards key initiatives aligned with the Africa CDC’s objectives. This significant investment will focus on various critical areas, including: • Diagnostics: $350 million • Human Resources for Health: $420 million • Health Information Systems: $300 million • Oxygen Plants: $250 million • Waste Management: $450 million Faye emphasized that the funding is available on the continent, presenting a unique opportunity for countries and #health organizations to enhance their #healthcare systems. Uganda's National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory uses next-generation sequencing technology to map and scan for drug-resistant strains of TB. The same equipment – procured with Global Fund support – has helped scientists and health officials track cases of other deadly disease like COVID-19 and Ebola.   With support from The Global Fund, Uganda’s Reference Library is sharing its methods and expertise with more than 20 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa to use sequencing for surveillance – and prepare the entire region for the health threats to come.
