Great News: The Global Fund, the government of #Malawi and World Vision Malawi have launched the implementation of US$525 million in new grants, focused on strengthening health systems to: ✅ Reach and surpass the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets and scale-up comprehensive, patient-centered care for people living with HIV. ✅ Accelerate rapid molecular testing, preventive therapy, and the optimization of second-line treatment for drug-resistant TB. ✅ Eliminate malaria by 2030 by increasing vector control and maintaining high testing and treatment rates. https://lnkd.in/ej58wn_g

For most of her career as a community health worker, Júlia carried massive handbooks and binders filled with loose-leaf pages while trekking hundreds of kilometers to meet patients and their families. The binders got soaked in the rainy season and slowed her down in the heat.     Then came upSCALE: a smartphone app that transformed Júlia’s work, replaced the handbooks and binders, and shares digitized health data to strengthen Mozambique’s health systems.      Across #Mozambique, more than 3,600 community health workers use upSCALE. The Global Fund is working with partners to launch the app nationwide by the end of 2026. https://lnkd.in/etj-FEXh

Following a decade of conflict in Syria and hundreds of attacks on medical facilities, Homs National Hospital is being rebuilt. It is now equipped with an oxygen generator. For people with asthma, emphysema, COVID-19 and illnesses tied to HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, oxygen saves lives.   The Global Fund has invested more than US$617 million to ensure medical oxygen is available in low- and middle-income countries – strengthening health systems and making sure that more people around the world can breathe. https://lnkd.in/gmE-VZpt

Just Announced: The Global Fund has approved US$2.5 million in emergency funding to support the procurement of essential HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria commodities and services in the conflict-affected regions of Tigray, Amhara, and Afar in Northern Ethiopia. “Ensuring that patients affected by the conflict in Northern Ethiopia can continue to access prevention and treatment services is our foremost priority.” - Mark Edington, Head of Grant Management https://lnkd.in/e624sx75

"I feel that I am living, I have emotions, I have thoughts and plans... People know that if they come to me, I will do what I can to help them."  Meet Ion, a harm reduction volunteer and inmate at Penitentiary no. 4-Cricova in Moldova.   As a person who has experienced and overcome drug use, Ion is a trusted confidant to his fellow inmates and relates to the stigma, discrimination and shame they may experience.  For individuals who inject drugs, harm reduction programs and support from volunteers like Ion help reduce their risk of HIV and hepatitis infection. Since 2006, The Global Fund has invested approximately US$165 million to support Moldova’s efforts to fight HIV and TB and protect the rights of people most affected by the two diseases, including people in prison. #PutPeopleFirst | #AIDS2024 https://lnkd.in/eQ55y_EH
