Much has changed over the past 30 years. But one thing has stayed the same – our strive for non-violence through peaceful conflict resolution. Over the weeks to come we invite you to take a walk down memory lane with us, as we share 30 stories of success from the past 30 years. We are so grateful to every single person who has joined us on our journey so far – and look forward to what the next 30 years of Non-Violence look like. Our mission is to inspire, motivate and engage people through education in order to prevent and reduce violence.
Info
The Non-Violence Project Foundation (NVP) is a Swiss-based nonprofit organization, promoting social change through education. NVP was launched in 1993. We have regional offices in Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Uganda, United Kingdom and the USA. Our mission is to inspire, motivate and engage young people to understand how to solve conflicts peacefully. We believe that education is the best weapon against violence. Our strategic approach focuses on two main initiatives: 1. Providing education with Peace programs to young people, teachers, and sports coaches 2. Raising awareness about the work we do. Our symbol is the well-known image of peace and non-violence, the knotted gun. It was created in 1980 by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, as a tribute to John Lennon. This unique symbol is featured at more than thirty strategic public locations around the world, including the UN headquarters in New York City, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and the Peace Park in Beijing. WORLDWIDE RECOGNITIONS - Call to Service Award from US President Barack Obama for our "devotion to shape a better tomorrow for the United States". - Paul Harris Fellow Award" by Rotary International for "NVP's efforts to curb youth violence around the world". - NVP USA has twice received the American Safety Council Award for Best Practice and the Weed and Seed Award.

Conflict resolution expert Sharia Walker, Partner at Performant Group SA and recent graduate of our NVPF Change Facilitator Certification, shares her experience. "Overall, the course approach and outcomes exceeded my expectations in several ways. The emphasis on a systematic, data-driven approach to conflict resolution provided a valuable framework for understanding and addressing workplace conflicts. I particularly appreciated the focus on identifying root causes rather than simply addressing surface-level symptoms, the knowledge and insights gained from the course will undoubtedly contribute to my professional trajectory as a nonviolence practitioner. The ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicts is a critical skill in various professional settings, and this course has provided me with a solid foundation upon which to build my expertise. I am confident that the tools and techniques learned in this course will enable me to navigate complex conflict situations with greater confidence and effectiveness, ultimately contributing to more peaceful and productive outcomes for individuals and organizations alike." #conflictresolution #youthdevelopment #changemanagement #nvpf #testimonial #professionaldevelopment #NonViolenceProject

"I found the training of the Non Violence Project Foundation to be very valuable and meaningful to my professional development. The content was very comprehensive and educational. I have great confidence that with planning and collaboration I can come up with a very successful workshop to serve those I am working with. I am very grateful for this training and it has really helped me advance my skills towards facilitation processes. I truly believe this recognition compliments the line of work I wish to do. I am honored to have it on my resume for future employment. I think the training provides a very strong foundation for everyone toward becoming a non-violent facilitator" #TheNonViolenceProject #nvp #TheKnottedGun #TheMovementThatUnites #Testimonials

NVP South Africa rolls out Sports / Soccer For Peace Progam in Soweto. Non-Violence Project South Africa (NVPSA) has partnered with a soccer development league in Soweto in a bid to empower boys of the age of 20 and below with Soccer For Peace skills. The league has 12 teams and each team has 20 registered players. League games are played every Saturday at a central venue. Participating players will attend Soccer For Peace sessions in between league games for three months. The sessions will commence on 20 July 2024, two days after Nelson Mandela International Day. Soccer For Peace sessions are meant to address issues related to self-esteem, conflict resolution and teamwork. On 14 June 2024 NVPSA facilitated a Soccer For Peace training for 21 coaches that are part of the identified league. The session dealt with leadership, conflict resolution and teamwork. “Today’s training was a great eye-opener for the coaches. As the league, we are delighted to be part of Non-Violence Project South Africa program. Some of us first saw the positive impact of this program during the 2010 world cup. We are excited that NVP has found its way back to Soweto. We believe this program will help us resolve a number of challenges we are faced with as coaches and players,” said soccer league chairman Patrick Ntshayisa. We thank all the coaches who participated in this event ( @Patrick Ntshayisa , @Motshwanetsi Shomong , @Thami Nkosi , @Calvin Moiloa, @Elvis Radebe, @Thabang Selane , @Xolani Bandla , @Nceba Sitaki , @Stanley Raseepe , @Tshepo Matome, @Tshepo Khiba , @Mandla Tshabalala , @Sifiso Khumalo. The Non-Violence Project Foundation actively seeks sponsorship and funding to keep the project in South Africa going, and to support the initiatives of our Country lead Bafana. #NonViolenceProject #nvpf #southafrica #TheMovementThatUnites
