How can AI-driven diagnostics save lives? Join us at the Ars Electronica Festival for Art, Technology, and Society in Austria, from 4 September. As an international leader in diagnostic services, this year's theme, “HOPE – Who Will Turn the Tide,” aligns perfectly with Unilabs’ mission to power health and maximise life. We're excited to showcase the ways in which Unilabs is already harnessing AI to revolutionise healthcare; to transform early diagnosis, advance research, and personalise diagnostic services. If you're attending the festival, don't miss our special panel session on ‘STARTS’ day on 5 September. This is a day focused to how we can reclaim, reimagine and regulate our digital landscape. Unilabs’ Head of AI Centre of Excellence, Claudio Silvestrin, will explore AI's future impact and considerations in clinical practice, alongside prominent digital researchers:  - Albert Ortig, founder of Netural GmbH - Apolinário Passos (Poli), Head of Machine Learning for Art and Creativity at Hugging Face - Frederike Kaltheuner, Europe and Global Governance Lead at the AI Now Institute - Thomas Nayer, founder of Dogether For more details, visit: https://lnkd.in/gKmsGDyV #AI #arselectronica24 #arselectronica #Healthcare

Groundbreaking innovations in molecular profiling and targeted therapy are unlocking more precise and personalised approaches to diagnosis and treatment, transforming cancer patients’ fight against the disease.  Our latest technology innovations range from allele-specific PCR, which can detect specific single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) in a patient's DNA, to next-generation sequencing (NGS) and more traditional methods like Sanger sequencing for detecting unknown mutations in genes. These tools allow us to identify known mutations that have implications for treatment decisions, and provide valuable information about single-nucleotide changes.   Combined with targeted therapy, we are able to enhance treatment effectiveness while minimising damage to healthy cells and support a better quality of care and life for cancer patients. We interview with Unilabs’ Dr Jana Verebová on molecular testing and new cancer diagnostic tests here: https://lnkd.in/e4ftsHTY As research advances, we expect more targeted therapies and broader molecular testing, which will further transform cancer treatment and prognosis. #Cancer #Oncology #Healthcare

AI is revolutionising medical fields like radiology by streamlining diagnostic processes, enhancing productivity, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. We spoke with Dr Stavroula Kyriazi, MD, clinical lead for the emergency radiology section at Unilabs’ AI Centre of Excellence, to explore these developments in-depth, focusing on how healthcare professionals are navigating this new frontier of AI-assisted healthcare. At Unilabs, our AI solutions are enhancing detection of over 100 different conditions, including brain aneurysms, tumours and haemorrhages, with three significant AI radiology solutions looking at CT Intracranial angiograms, covering images with and without contrast. An additional three of our innovative AI applications are frequently used in emergency brain CT scanning. Over 250,000 Unilabs examinations have been AI-assisted to date. “What I find most enjoyable in my work is the significant variation in daily tasks. We receive a wide range of specimens, and it takes time to gain experience and encounter the different variations, so we often seek advice from colleagues, which also makes the work interesting and challenging.” – Unilabs Biomedical Analyst Katarina Huhmarniemi In the second instalment of our series spotlighting Unilabs pathology technicians from across the world, we spoke to Biomedical Analyst Katarina Huhmarniemi in Sweden about her work and the measures taken to guarantee accuracy and precision in laboratory procedures. Understanding genetic factors in hereditary cancer helps tailor proactive management and preventive measures, aiming for the best possible patient outcomes and support. Some cancers have a stronger genetic predisposition, with hereditary syndromes making up around 3-20% of all cancer cases. Unilabs provides oncogenetic consultations which can unlock possible risk-reducing interventions and provide informed clinical decisions for the patient. Developments in next-generation sequencing allow us to quickly analyse multiple genes at once, helping identify harmful gene changes linked to hereditary cancers. Additionally, new treatments like PARP inhibitors and checkpoint inhibitors show promise for cancers with specific genetic mutations.  Learn more from Unilabs' Oncogenetics specialist Dr Zuzana Mazerikovahttps://lnkd.in/eN_vp_64 #Genetics #Oncology #Cancer #Healthcare
