🎯 From the idea to the finished product 🎯 Thermoforming or vacuum forming is one of the two manufacturing processes we use at Utz. In this process, a thermoplastic sheet is formed into any desired shape using a vacuum. Special packaging and shaping requirements of the customer for components to be stored or transported can be quickly fulfilled in the Utz Group using thermoforming alone. Especially when it comes to individual or cost-effective solutions. 🔥🎯 Thermoformed trays are produced with both thin (less than 1 mm) and thicker walls (up to 12 mm). Depending on the application of these load carriers, the thickness of the material can be changed, making it adaptable and production scalable without compromising precision. One of the key techniques of our production 🔧 ⚙️ is vacuum forming, or, thermoforming. This is a process in which molten plastic 🌡️ 💉, under the influence of temperature and vacuum generated, takes the shape developed at the mold design stage for the production order. This gives us the freedom to create complex shapes 🔄 with remarkable precision and quality 👌. The advantages of this method are precision and repeatability 🔄, because each container is an exact copy of the design 🧐. Additionally, it allows us to respond to specific needs. Thanks to thermoforming, we create products with unusual elements, such as reinforcements or special sockets 🗜️ 🔩. These products have proven themselves for years in industries such as: ✅ Automotive 🚗 ✅ Electronics (protecting it from dirt and static electricity) 📱 💻 ✅ Production and transportation of precision components, perfectly protecting them from damage 🛡️ Want to learn more? Always in View: Upcoming Sustainability Legislation 🌱 We stay ahead by monitoring legislative developments and adapting proactively. Adherence to local laws and international legislation plays a crucial role for us across our 8 locations on 3 continents. Spotlight on the EU PPWR ⚖️ The packaging waste directive (PPWR) of the EU sets waste reduction targets, mandates reuse, bans certain single-use packaging, and minimizes packaging volumes. Adopted in June, it includes design requirements for recyclable packaging and the use of post-consumer recycled material. Utz Group’s Commitment 🤝 Our reusable plastic transport packaging already meets future PPWR requirements. Designed for a long life and many use cycles, made from mono-material and being almost 100% recyclable, Utz products ensure compliance with current and future standards and legislation. We are on the right track with our sustainability strategy and focus on the circular economy. Why choose plastic pallets❓ Despite the persistence of long-standing prejudices, plastic pallets have serious scientific advantages! 💡Plastic pallets are lightweight and durable, making them easier to handle and longer lasting. 💡Thanks to uniform size and shape, their consistency makes them the perfect fit for automated logistics. 💡Reinforced with smartly placed steel tubes and anti-slip mats, they are safe and suitable for high-bay warehouses. 💡Furthermore, plastic pallets are easy to clean and sanitize, making them ideal for industries with strict hygiene standards like food or pharma. 💡And when using pallets made from recycled materials, combined with their durability and longevity, you can decrease the carbon footprint of the pallets considerably below their alternatives.🌱 Get in touch with our product experts, who are happy to support you in finding the perfect pallet for your requirement. https://lnkd.in/dQDAV6uA

💡Did you know that a study by the environmental NGO NABU e.V. found that reusable transport packaging has a waste prevention factor of 4:1 when compared to single-use packaging? What does that mean? If the share of reusable transport packaging in Germany reaches 50%, then every additional ton of plastic reusable transport packaging placed on the market has the potential to save 5 tons of single-use corrugated cardboard packaging. 🔗 Want to dive into the report? https://lnkd.in/eBZHmTZJ

Legislation and new regulations are a major driver when it comes to initiate and support innovation and change. Especially in the EU, a lot of new and refining regulations are currently being negotiated and adopted. One of those newly passed regulations is the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, PPWR in short, which has a big influence on the packaging market and our business. 📖 For the first time, binding EU-wide waste prevention targets, reuse rates and recycling quotas have been set. 🎯 However, a big disappointment is the exclusion of paper and cardboard packaging, ignoring material neutrality and almost two thirds of the packaging market. 😊 The good news is: Utz reusable plastic transport packaging already meets all the requirements set in the PPWR. With a long lifetime (>20 years), many use cycles (at least >50), made from mono-material, almost 100% recyclable and compliant with all relevant regulations, Utz products are a safe bet. Raising the amount of recycled material shouldn’t be that difficult you say? What sounds pretty straightforward at first is, in reality, a more complex process than you might think. There is a variety of challenges: Regulatory limitations, especially regarding food contact and hygiene issues, customers requiring specific material properties, complications during the production process, continuous product innovation, demand fulfilment or saving high-quality material sources – to name just a few. To overcome these challenges, it takes nothing less than fully embedding circularity in our operations and supply chain. With our climate and UIC strategy, and our reusable and fully recyclable transport packaging products, we are fully committed to reaching a resource-efficient circular economy. From old to new ♻️ To reach our ambitious climate goals, using more recycled materials is essential. Already since the 1970s, we have built up extensive expertise in the handling of recyclates and have established Utz Industrial Compounds (UIC®). These are high-quality secondary raw materials with specified material properties, continuously tested and in accordance with ISO standards. By using UIC®, we reduce the carbon footprint of our products by 60% and keep valuable resources in the material cycle. Together with our customers, we are making an important contribution to a carbon neutral circular economy. #recycle #circulareconomy #utzgroup #UIC

On our way to net-zero emissions, we will use 100% energy from renewable sources by 2030. ⚡💚This is an ambitious goal, and solar power is playing an important role in achieving it. ☀️All Utz companies are working to make the best possible use of the roofs of our production halls for PV systems. In 2024, we have almost tripled our capacity to produce 3,800 KWp of electricity ourselves, and the trend is going upwards. ⬆️ "In addition to strategic and environmental considerations, having our own PV systems also brings economic benefits," says Ralf Boomhuis, member of the management team at Georg Utz GmbH, Germany. "For example, producing your own electricity makes you more independent of the international electricity market, the grid and volatile prices. Electricity costs are also smoothed, making them easy to plan around. We are taking an active and smart role in the flexibility of the electricity market. But we are also thinking beyond our existing space and are already planning to participate in local energy projects.” 💪👏 Take a look at our new sustainability report to find out more about our energy targets and other inspiring actions we are taking to achieve them. 📖💡 https://lnkd.in/dhB3etMS #utzgroup #sustainability #solarpower
