🌍 Celebrating One Health Day 🌱🐾 On November 3rd, we celebrated #OneHealthDay – an opportunity to highlight the essential connections between human well-being, animal health, and a sustainably used environment. At VSF-Suisse, our mission of “Healthy Animals – Healthy People – Healthy Environment” reflects our commitment to a truly integrated approach. Our #OneHealth model recognizes that only a healthy environment can ensure healthy animals and people. By fostering collaboration across sectors, we help detect health risks early, streamline resource use, and improve health services for underserved rural areas. Together with local stakeholders, we’re advancing innovative One Health practices to combat zoonoses and enhance rural health systems. Let’s keep building a future where people, animals, and ecosystems thrive together. 💪 Support us 👉 https://lnkd.in/eU_VDmpC

Healthy Animals - Healthy People - Healthy Environment
Info
Healthy Animals - Healthy People - Healthy Environment VSF-Suisse fights hunger and poverty in eight countries in East and West Africa. We work especially for and with people who depend on animals for their livelihood. We at VSF-Suisse support livestock owners on their way to independence. Education plays a key role in this process. We advise livestock owners in the areas of breeding, hygiene and disease prevention and help them to improve the production and marketing of their produce. Further, we encourage the formation of associations and small businesses. Wherever possible we work with local partners and include all stakeholders in all phases of our projects in order to ensure long-term successes. During project conception we pay special attention to social structures, sustainability, ecological viability and animal protection. Through the fight against animal diseases zoonoses VSF-Suisse makes an important contribution to public health. Vision Healthy people derive their livelihoods from healthy livestock in a sustainable environment. Mission Improve the well-being and resilience of vulnerable populations by promoting the health and productivity of their livestock within a sustainable environment.

🌍 #WorldFoodDay 2024 🍽️ 📢 We are pleased to announce the release of the 2024 Nutrition Report by the Allianz Sufosec, of which VSF-Suisse is a member, titled "Sustainable Food starts locally". Based on data from nearly 125,000 households, it highlights the critical role of #agroecology in the fight against hunger. Despite progress, 735 million people still face food insecurity and lack access to nutritious food, a situation worsened by conflicts, climate change, pandemics and growing economic inequalities. 🌪️🦠 📉 In 2023, 43% of farms adopted a new agroecological method, and malnutrition among households in these projects decreased by 10% between 2021 and 2023. Now, more than ever, we must place agroecology and nutrition at the center of sustainable development policies to build resilient, healthy food systems and protect biodiversity for future generations. 💚 🐔 Learn more with our case study on poultry farming in Kenya: https://lnkd.in/e6xP-Vpz 👉 Read the full report Version DE : https://lnkd.in/efq9KdVA Version FR : https://lnkd.in/ebzucf2U

🌍 Have you heard about La Niña? It's the climate phenomenon opposite to El Niño, which cools Pacific waters, disrupts atmospheric pressure and impacts our global climate. 🌊 In recent years, the Horn of Africa has faced severe droughts, leaving about 23 million people struggling with food shortages. As the region is recovering from this crisis, there's some worrying news: forecasts show there's a 70% chance we might see another La Niña episode by the end of 2024, which could put food security at risk once again. 📉 Read more about La Niña and its possible consequences for the region in our new article 👉 https://lnkd.in/em_efzdC

🌍🐾 Happy #WorldAnimalDay ! Today, we celebrate animal rights and welfare across the globe. But let's not forget the millions of people whose lives depend on the health of their livestock. At VSF-Suisse, we believe that healthy animals lead to healthy communities. Around the world, 500 million people living in poverty depend on livestock farming for food and income. In the #Sahel and the #HornofAfrica, healthy animals mean resilient families. That’s why we work closely with local communities to promote livestock health and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. 🌱 By supporting our projects, you help build a future where animals, people, and the environment thrive together. 💪 Support us 👉 https://lnkd.in/eU_VDmpC
