These unique ecosystems, increasingly vulnerable to climate change, host microorganisms that are critical for understanding and preserving our planet's natural heritage.   💡 A Vision for Life Sciences in Valais : The research calls for the creation of a biobank to preserve these invaluable microbiomes, with a proposal to establish it in Valais. The Alpine and Polar Environmental Research Centre (ALPOLE) laboratory at EPFL Valais/Wallis, with its expertise in alpine and polar environments, could play a pivotal role in safeguarding these unique ecosystems and advancing next-generation biotechnology. What is the state of extracurricular childcare in Upper Valais? A recent analysis by valais4you shows that a lot has changed in this area in recent years. Between 2019 and 2024, childcare provision in the region, which includes daycare centers and extracurricular childcare up to the age of 12, increased by 77% to almost 1,300 places. And demand is expected to continue to rise in the coming years due to ongoing development.
