Virtido, a USA Launching Pad 🚀 client, just finished their stay in San Francisco and are now open for business in America. These are their 3 key takeaways on how to build sales in the USA: 1. Adapt to cultural diversity. People are incredibly open in the USA. Many people moved here from abroad and welcome talking to foreigners. This results in very high willingness to help, but also in quick decline in interest. Americans might be interested in you but not necessarily in your business unless they quickly see what is in it for them. “Interesting” does not always mean “interested,” you must not take rejection personally but as the American way of communicating in a non-confrontational way. 2. Follow up, follow up, follow up. In the USA, following up the next day or even on the same day is considered good etiquette. By doing so, you show professionalism and that you are interested. Hustling is seen as a good thing! European restraint and slow follow-up are seen as a lack of interest. 3. Adapt the messaging. The messaging in marketing materials has to be very different from that in Europe. Otherwise, many Americans won’t “get it.” The key is to tell an emotional story, drive towards conversion, and sell more aggressively. The messaging is so different that a separate US landing page may be needed to avoid offending more traditional European customers.
