🌍 Decarbonizing Industrial Heat: Key Takeaways & Next Steps from Climate Week 2024 🌱 It was an honor for WBCSD to co-host, alongside Arcadis, an action-centered session focused on industrial heat decarbonization at #ClimateWeekNYC ✨ Below are the key highlights from the session 'Decarbonizing Industrial Heat: How Do We Address the Elephant in the Room?': ➡ Process heat constitutes the largest part of emissions from industries, constituting 18% of global #GHG emissions. ➡ No silver bullet for heat decarbonization exists; companies need to have an overview of all available solutions to make the right investment decisions. ➡ Thermal storage will play a key role in scaling companies’ adoption of renewable heat solutions and in contributing towards grid flexibility. ➡ Good news: momentum for renewable heat is building for businesses prioritizing heat decarbonization across sectors. Stay tuned for our series of Renewable Heat Solution Navigator briefs, providing an overview of available solutions. This #WorldFoodDay, we are celebrating the right to foods for a better life and future. 🌾 Did you know that our agri-food systems are responsible for 1/3 of global greenhouse gas emissions and 3 /4 of biodiversity loss? These systems are in urgent need of change. 🌍 Businesses play a key role in driving the transformation of #agrifood systems. From promoting sustainable agricultural practices to creating robust supply chains, the private sector is at the forefront of a global movement to ensure that agri-food systems are resilient, equitable and sustainable. We call for collaboration between public and private actors and across the value chain in making responsibly produced, nourishing food the new global norm. 📺 Watch our World Food Day video to see how collective action across the entire value chain and between stakeholders is crucial in driving agri-food systems transformation. Together, we can create a sustainable future for agriculture and food. #SustainableBusiness #FoodSystems #SDGs #WFD

🥦 Unlocking finance for #FoodSystems transformation has proven to be a challenge for many organizations. Only 4% of global #ClimateFinance goes to #AgriFood systems despite the system being responsible for nearly a third of global greenhouse gas (#GHG) emissions. To drive finance to where it is needed, we need robust decision-useful information that systematically factors in climate-, nature- and health-related risks and opportunities. 📊 Critical to this are harmonized and credible metrics that can be applied across the value-chain. This year we've been working on and engaging with key initiatives to align business on metrics across these areas.
