Do you agree it's high time for governments to step up and make nature a top priority? Each city, business, and individual has a critical role in reversing nature loss this decade as well. 🌿 We might not solve it overnight, but together, we have the power to make a difference. #WWFUntangled

Creating a world where people live in harmony with nature. Together, anything is possible.
Info
Nature is our life-support system. That’s why WWF – an independent conservation organization active in nearly 100 countries – is tackling the deepening crisis of nature loss caused by human activities. Our ambition is to set nature on the path to recovery in the coming decade for the benefit of people and wildlife. Working with many others, we must protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable. ============ General information Thank you for joining the WWF LinkedIn community. The Brazilian Amazon has been ravaged by extreme drought and out-of-control wildfires in 2024, with over 53,000 fire outbreaks—nearly 29,000 in August alone. The smoke from these fires has spread across 11 states, affecting vast areas beyond the Amazon. This critical ecosystem is in peril, and we must act now to protect it. Every action counts in preserving this vital part of our planet. #WorldAmazonDay Fran Raymond Price

Today during #WorldWaterWeek, representatives from businesses, member countries and partners gathered for a special event to discuss the critical role the private sector can play in achieving the ambitious goals of the #FreshwaterChallenge. The #FreshwaterChallenge, now supported by 46 countries and the EU, aims to restore 300,000 km of rivers and 350 million hectares of wetlands by 2030, as well as conserve intact freshwater ecosystems. Insightful sessions at today's Freshwater Challenge Private Sector Engagement event 🌍💧focused on securing support from the private sector for protection and restoration. Collaboration between the private and public sectors is essential to driving impactful action for water security, business resilience, climate adaptation, and reversing nature loss. IKEA, a long-standing corporate partner in water stewardship, was one of the first companies to support the Freshwater Challenge. "By 2050, nearly half of global GDP could come from river basins facing high water risks. It’s vital for businesses, national governments, and NGOs to collaborate and accelerate efforts to restore and protect these ecosystems. This will help sustain operations and supply chains, improve the resilience of the planet, and protect vulnerable communities." – Christina Niemelä Ström, Global Head of Sustainability for Supply, Inter IKEA. Thanks to everyone who participated—your insights will help shape the future of this vital initiative. Read more about the Freshwater Challenge here: https://lnkd.in/gdh3PUD9

What happens when you mix bees and elephants? In Zimbabwe, beehives serve as natural barriers, keeping elephants away from crops. This innovative solution protects harvests, provides alternative income during droughts, conserves wildlife, and supports local communities. https://lnkd.in/eJuXqr5p

Forests are vital to life on Earth, offering oxygen, water, and livelihoods. Community-led conservation is essential to their future. In Zambia, local heroes lead prescribed burns, safeguarding forests from wildfires and illegal logging. Together, they ensure these lifelines remain standing. https://lnkd.in/e2Z6jkSq #ConservationHeroes #CommunityPower
