After working in international development cooperation, he founded the energy efficiency consultancy Watt Smart. He spent part of his career in the Caribbean, where he specialized in bioclimatic construction and demand management. - For the past two years, he has been working with the Office cantonal de l'énergie de Genève (OCEN) to promote energy savings in response to the risk of winter power shortages. - He joined the Energy Systems group at the University of Geneva in 2024 and is currently investigating public energy policies. - In addition to his professional activities, he has been involved for over 20 years in environmental organizations, notably within the Noé21 association. Delighted that our Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science | University of Geneva, had the honor to welcome Yann LeCun. I specifically loved the interdisciplinary approach, which brought concepts from control theory (model-predictive control) into machine learning. The legendary Norbert Wiener (founding father of cybernetics) would have found that natural!
✨ I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to welcome Yann LeCun at the University of Geneva on October 11, 2024, where he delivered a truly visionary talk about the future of AI systems, centered around a model-predictive control approach. 🎤 It was a privilege to chair his presentation and be among the first to learn about Dino-WM, a groundbreaking new model focused on action planning with a world model trained from DINO. This innovative approach promises to push the boundaries of AI in ways that will shape the future of intelligent systems. 🙏 A personal thanks to François Fleuret for organizing this exceptional event - his efforts were key to making it all possible. A huge thank you to Yann for sharing his insights and inspiration with us.
