Among the moderators and speakers, Professor Patrick Cohrs (University of Florence) shared insights on the challenges of the international order, emphasizing leadership, the limits of Westernization, and the role of historical analysis in shaping policy. 🌍 Conférence internationale du travail de Genève - 1924 🌍 📅16 juin - 5 juillet La 6ᵉ Conférence internationale du travail, organisée par l'#OIT, a réuni des représentants des gouvernements, des employeurs et des travailleurs de 39 États membres. On y parlé de durée du travail, protection des travailleurs migrants, et la sécurité au travail. Ce fut une étape importante dans l'amélioration mondiale des normes du travail. At the Swiss Press Club on January 23, former U.S. ambassador to Bern, Charles Adams, called Trump’s election a “horror,” fearing it could push the U.S. toward fascism. Professor Daniel Warner struck a calmer tone, suggesting the initial euphoria and outrage may fade but emphasized the need to reignite resistance. Trump’s decision to cut WHO funding signals a “League of Nations syndrome,” where decline might eventually spark renewal. Stéphane Bussard of Le Temps warned of broader threats, calling the WTO “brain-dead” and predicting risks for Geneva-based organizations like the WMO and ITU. 100 ans de l'UNESCO-IBE avec un entretien exclusif (en français) avec Bernard Schneuwly. Dans le cadre du centenaire de l'organisation, nous avons eu la chance d’interviewer Bernard Schneuwly, figure incontournable de l’éducation mondiale. L'ancien professeur de l'University of Geneva revient sur l’évolution historique du BIE et ses contributions à la transformation des programmes scolaires et de l’apprentissage. Il est l'auteur avec Rita Hofstetter d'un livre - en libre accès - nommé  The International Bureau of Education (1925-1968): The Ascent From the Individual to the Universal (Le Bureau international d’éducation (1925-1968), l’ascension de l’individuel vers l’universel, en français) qui retrace l'histoire du BIE. Lors de la table ronde organisée à Genève (Maison de la Paix, vendredi 24 janvier), Jacques Dubochet, prix Nobel de chimie 2017, a souligné par vidéo l’importance d’apprendre en expérimentant, plutôt qu’en mémorisant par cœur. Une réflexion inspirante qui résonne avec la mission du BIE : promouvoir une éducation universelle, inclusive et résiliente, tournée sur un usage responsable des nouvelles technologies.
