Hear the World Foundation (HTWF) proudly participated in the 36th World Congress of Audiology in Paris. The event gathered global experts to discuss key topics such as Teleaudiology, AI in audiology, and Evidence-Based Audiology. The team was able to engage with project partners, including Dr. Margaret Zuriekat from Jordan University Hospital, Dr. Eliane Schochat, Dr. Katia de Almeida, and Dr. Maria Cecilia Martinelli from the Academia Brasiliera de Audiologia project and Peter Boettcher from Path Medical, a provider of audiological equipment for the foundation. While HTWF Advisory Board members, Prof. Lena Wong and Dr. med. Dorothe Veraguth, were also in attendance with Prof. Lena Wong presenting on hearing healthcare in China. The Hear the World team had the privilege of visiting Hear, Listen and Speak (HLS) in Bhutan, an important project partner working to establish sustainable ear and hearing care for children nationwide, up to 14 years old. As the main objective of this visit was to further train local clinicians, two dedicated HTW volunteer audiologists joined the trip and worked closely with the HLS team over three days. Through collaboration with the UN Technology Bank, Medtronic Labs, and the Bhutanese Ministry of Health, this project is providing access to essential pediatric hearing services throughout the country. HTWF is supporting this effort by providing technology, equipment, and training to ensure successful implementation nationwide. #philanthropy #impact #hearinghealth

We’re proud to highlight the work of Christiane Basilio, Manager of Audiology Training and Development at Connect Hearing Canada, who recently volunteered with our project partner in Guatemala, Sonrisas que Escuchan. Her efforts to support local audiologists in implementing best practices for hearing aid verification are making a meaningful difference in the community. Thank you to our Advisory Board member, Dr. med. Dorothe Veraguth, for welcoming the Hear the World team and our project partner from Oír Para Crecer to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital Zürich. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to share pediatric audiology knowledge with our project partner and to discuss the important work being done in Peru, particularly the team's efforts to launch an audiology education program in the country. Today our project partners from Peru, Zimbabwe, India, and Bhutan concluded their 5-day pediatric audiology training with the Swiss International Hearing Academy (SIHA) Hearing Care Professional Program at the Academy for Hearing Acoustics in Lübeck, Germany. This program is an important milestone in our efforts to enhance hearing care services in these regions. The SIHA qualification for Hearing Care Professionals (HCPs) is recognized for its thorough blended learning approach, offering a range of environments and contexts where learners can develop their audiology skills. Through this program our partners have acquired essential knowledge that will support them in capacity building in their communities. #capacitybuilding #philanthropy #hearingcare

Our project partners in Peru, Oír para Crecer (OPC), have recently received one of the largest Hear the World technology donations made in a single shipment: 1000 hearing aids and 3 Roger microphones. Although this journey wasn't without its challenges. Importing medical technology abroad can come with several obstacles varying from regulatory challenges to cost and tariff issues. Initially this was the case for our project partners, leading to increased storage times and costs for this shipment. However, through experience and collaboration, OPC was able to navigate these challenges and successfully receive their technology donation. This achievement showcases the power of perseverance and highlights one of the various challenges aid organizations must navigate.  #philanthrophy #impact #hearinghealth #technology

The power of knowledge sharing can transform communities and build lasting impacts. Hear the World Foundation is excited to have fostered a recent collaboration between past project partner, Écoute-moi! in Chad and current partner in Zimbabwe, WizEar.   Recognizing the need for French-language audiological training in Chad, we were able to facilitate a knowledge exchange with Primrose, an experienced audiologist from the WizEar project. Over one week, Primrose trained the Écoute-moi! team, covering key areas such as diagnostic audiometry, tympanometry, and hearing screening. This hands-on approach proved highly effective and empowering for the Chad team.
