Just back from a short research visit in Grenoble -- what a lovely city and a great train ride through Geneva in just 2 hours. Big thanks to Prof. Jean-Philippe Nicolai for hosting me at Grenoble INP - Génie industriel and for the opportunity to meet people and present my research in the seminar series of the Laboratoire d'Economie Appliquée de Grenoble, Université Grenoble Alpes. I look forward to the collaboration. Preparing the talk has also pushed me to make progress with my work on Information, incentives and norms: Theory and Evidence from CO2 Abatement joint with Prof. Hiro Sakamoto at Kobe University. Draft coming soon ! #research #collaboration Institute of Economic Research, University of Neuchâtel Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Neuchâtel

Dear Network, I'm thrilled to announce that I have been hired as an intern at CERN in Data Analysis during this summer! 🚀 Since I'm a teenager, my biggest dream was working at CERN one day and so, contributing to discoveries in the particle physics area (even if is in an indirect way). CERN is a place like nowhere on Earth, they have the largest particle accelerator, CERN is the home of the World Wide Web and, the only place on Earth where we can "stock" artificially created antimatter. For me, this is a dream becoming a reality ! During my studies, I had to work and study at the same time, which was very challenging as I studied (during my bachelor's degree and part of my master) at full time. There were times when the path seemed challenging, but staying focused on my goal kept me going. The master's degree in Applied Economics from the Institute of Economic Research, University of Neuchâtel provided me the tools needed to perform data analysis in softwares like R and STATA. This really makes a difference in the job market, compared to other similar programs in Switzerland. Special thanks to all my teachers, and overall people working at the faculty of Economics for their guidance and support. I am very happy to attest that we have excellent and passionate teachers providing us a very good program in Economics, and overall, Data Analysis. l highly recommend this Master's program to all students interested in working in exciting fields in Switzerland or elsewhere.🇨🇭 If you have questions about the master that I'm doing right now, or about my internship at CERN, please don't hesitate, and contact me. #CERN #Internship #DataAnalysis #Switzerland #AppliedEconomics #UNINE #R #STATA #MScAPEC #summer #summerinternship #UniversityofNeuchâtel #Economics #STEM #WorkinginSwitzerland

📢 New Working Paper: Multi-dimensional monetary policy shocks based on heteroscedasticity With central banks increasingly relying on unconventional tools like forward guidance and large-scale asset purchases, how can we assess their impact on financial markets and exchange rates? Marc Burri and Daniel Kaufmann tackle this challenge in their new IRENE Working Paper. They propose a two-step approach to estimating multi-dimensional monetary policy shocks and their causal effects based on daily financial market data and monetary policy events. They exploit the changes in the variance of financial market variables on days with monetary policy announcements and impose additional assumptions on the response of interest rates along the term structure to disentangle multiple dimensions. In addition, they derive an optimal predictor of the unobserved multi-dimensional monetary policy shocks. They find that both conventional and unconventional monetary policy actions quickly appreciate the exchange rate. 💡 Want to dive deeper?
