Finally! Fiona Fehlmann and I are thrilled to announce our publication "Beyond Digital Literacy: Exploring Factors Affecting Digital Performance of University Staff," in Media and Communication as part of the special issue "Evaluating and Enhancing Media Literacy and Digital Skills." In this article, we discuss the findings from my DIZH fellowship project funded by ZHAW digital. We argue that digital literacy is just one of many facets of digital performance, and having digital skills alone does not guarantee effective digital action. Our model of digital performance for university staff includes not only digital literacy but also openness to digital developments, digital culture, primary conditions, services and empowerment offerings, as well as mindfulness. We advocate that universities play a crucial role in shaping the digital culture and openness of their staff through their services and frameworks, which ultimately influences digital performance. Often, digital performance falters due to a lack of time, financial resources, and, above all, resources and the patience for testing. We would like to thank ZHAW digital for funding the fellowship, the ZHAW Hochschulbibliothek for their straightforward support in facilitating open access for our article, and Cogitatio Press for their kind assistance throughout the publication process.
