TDB Group, through #TDB Academy, in collaboration with the The African Legal Support Facility hosted the first edition of “The African Attorneys General Roundtable Meeting” on 4-5 November 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.   The roundtable provided participants with an opportunity to discuss the current responsibilities and functions of the Office of the Attorney General and identify challenges, concerns, and #capacitybuilding gaps, in conjunction with solutions and action points to address these. The training also explored opportunities for common approaches to legal risk management, and how the role of the Office of the Attorney General may evolve in the future, in its capacity as the focal point for #sovereign #legalriskmanagement, and the groundwork was layed for the creation of an AG network. ALSF’s Charles Afeku and Joël SANON Sanon recently joined the AU-AMDC’s AMREC-PARC workshop in Dakar, Senegal, to provide legal insights on implementing this important continental framework.   The Pan African Resources Reporting Code "PARC" (https://lnkd.in/dG_zD-Ny) is a pioneering framework for transparent and sustainable development of Africa’s mineral and energy resources, driven by African expertise, and is key to realising the Africa Mining Vision and AU Agenda 2063.   During discussions with senior officials and experts from West and Central Africa, ALSF highlighted the legal implications for governments and stakeholders - focusing on governance, rights, obligations, and liabilities in implementing AMREC-PARC (https://lnkd.in/ej3N5tz6), as well as opportunities to strengthen legal frameworks for domestic resource mobilisation for mining projects.   ALSF remains committed to supporting AMREC-PARC through its AMLA - African Mining Legislation Atlas resources, legal toolkits, training initiatives, and advisory support for governments. #AfricaMining #SustainableDevelopment #AU #AMREC #PARC #Agenda2063 #ALSF
