GTMI will oversee the auditing and certification of tailing facilities assessments against the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and will advocate for the implementation and insurance of this standard across the broader industry. Today, BHP and Lundin Mining Corporation completed the acquisition of Filo Corp. and the formation of the 50/50 joint venture, Vicuña, to progress the Filo del Sol and Josemaria copper projects in Argentina. The completion of this transaction is an exciting step forward for BHP and aligns with our strategy to acquire new copper projects and form strategic alliances. Population growth, increasing standards of living, decarbonisation and AI are going to require more copper. Vicuña has the potential to become a world class copper district.
