We are excited to announce that EBP has been selected as one of the first two target validation partners for the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) nature targets worldwide. Together with Deloitte, we will ensure that corporate targets for nature are robust and in line with what science requires. 💡What is SBTN? SBTN for nature is the new leading global initiative on corporate sustainability. It builds on the success of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with 9,206 participating companies. Supported by major NGOs, the SBTN works to shape the impact of the private sector and cities on nature – with the aim of staying within the earth’s limits and meeting society’s needs. Companies can now use methodologies developed by the SBTN to set scientifically robust targets for their water and land use, with the goal of minimizing their impact on natural resources. 💡What’s EBP’s role here? When the new target validation service launches in early 2025, EBP and Deloitte will be the only two validation partners worldwide who can validate companies’ targets. Companies will need to validate their targets if they want to communicate them externally. We look forward to fostering an impactful accountability ecosystem together with SBTN! 👇Read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/e4HdPNGA #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #CorporateSustainability #CorporateAccountability

If we want to build a sustainable future, we must transform the real estate sector. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), buildings account for 30 % of global final energy consumption and 26 % of global energy-related emissions. Which means: There's a lot of room for improvement. At EBP, we are continually investing in our Sustainable Real Estate capabilities. In recent years we have built a global team of experts who work together in our Global Service Line "Sustainable Real Estate." We also work with and support the Universität Zürich | University of Zurich in Real Estate education and on the establishment of Real Estate professorships – because we believe in the power of science to solve sustainability challenges. Together with UBS and Wüest Partner, we are therefore supporting the CUREM - Center for Urban & Real Estate Management, Universität Zürich in establishing its first two Real Estate professorships. Prof. Dr. Christian Hilber and Dr. Francisco Amaral will take up their positions this fall. This is a long-term investment in sustainable development. It will enable the creation of innovative, viable solutions to the challenges facing the real estate and spatial development sector. The two professorships will also make it easier to connect science to practice and to the training of qualified professionals. We wish Dr. Hilber and Dr. Amaral a good start in their new professorships! 👇Find out more about our expertise in sustainable building: https://lnkd.in/etVdmXde #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #SustainableBuildling #SustainableRealEstate #SpatialDevelopment

We are excited to announce that EBP has entered a strategic partnership with Pelt8! Pelt8, a sustainability tech startup, is the fastest growing sustainability reporting solution in Switzerland. At EBP, we believe that reporting on sustainability efforts and capabilities will become increasingly important – both for medium and large companies worldwide. Here’s why: 🔸The European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) came into force in January 2023. It requires all large companies and all listed companies to report on sustainability. 🔸 This means that thousands of companies in Europe will have to produce a sustainability report for the first time this year. The reports will have to comply with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards. 🔸 This is where Pelt8 supports. It helps companies to easily execute their sustainability reporting – in compliance with all applicable standards. To underline this commitment, EBP has also acquired a minority stake in Pelt8. Additionally, Tenity and SICTIC investors participated as follow-on investors in the funding round. The official start of the cooperation with Pelt8 was celebrated with a picnic in Zurich this August. We would like to thank all Pelt8 colleagues involved for their trust and look forward to a new chapter in our company's history! #ShapingtheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #CorporateSustainability #CSRD

Let’s tackle the housing crisis – Berlin shows how. Germany’s capital has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade. It is now home to 3.8 million people. That’s almost half a million more than 10 years ago. How can the city manage this growth – and ensure that there is affordable housing for everyone? The Urban Development Housing Plan 2040 (Stadtentwicklungsplan Wohnen 2040) sets out an overall urban framework for Berlin’s future. It identifies how many additional housing units are needed in the future and where they should be built. The plan places particular emphasis on strengthening Berlin’s diverse neighborhoods while ensuring that they are satisfactory places to live. To help Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung, Bauen und Wohnen develop this plan, EBP Deutschland GmbH and EBP Schweiz combined their expertise in urban and strategic planning and development. The interactive development process involved various stakeholders and allowed for close coordination and integration with other plans. 👇Read the plan here (German): https://lnkd.in/e6inzqyA #ShapingTheFuture #UrbanPlanning #UrbanDevelopment #StadtentwicklungsplanWohnen2040

What will EBP look like in the year 2050? For the "Future Scenarios (Speculative Design)" module of Hyper Island's Digital Management Master, we asked 15 students just that. Here are some of their speculations that we found most intriguing: 🔸We will work as a Teal organization – an organization that relies on self-management. 🔸We will implement a co-opetition strategy to drive innovation in sustainable technologies. (Co-opetition means cooperating with a competitor to achieve a shared goal.) 🔸Our knowledge ecosystem will use gamification elements to make collaboration more fun. 🔸Given the increasing urgency to find and implement sustainable solutions, we will face an even stronger competition in the market. 🔸We will have our own AI tool, called ChatEBP, that will help us create and collaborate. 🔸We will invest in metaverse tools and cultural exchange programs to foster cross-cultural interactions. Bonus: Our colleagues will have cool names like Nyx, Orion, and Titan. We are excited for 2050! A big thank you to all the students for their inspiring visions and recommendations: Irena Zabasta Mar High Artem Setkin Susanna Scheidegger Aleksi Tappura Chris Haener Heiðar Þór Jónssonar Maximilian Held Oleksii Volkov Elisa Quintero Felix Seifried Matias Buenaventura Nainika Naik Tea Svensson and our own Sarah Schöni! 📸Image credit: Hyper Island Master in Digital Management (2024), Group 1 #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #FutureScenarios #SpeculativeDesign #TealOrganization
