Celebrating Our STEM Reach Graduates in Tiko After 2 months of intensive hands-on training on basic computer literacy, Data Girl Technologies is pleased to have trained 50 students who graduated on Friday March 7, 2025 at the Tiko council hall. This falls under the STEM Reach project with a mission to empower women in underserved communities with STEM education, resources and mentorship. As Black History month comes to an end,Data Girl Technologies honors the first black woman in tech, Gladys West, a brilliant Mathematician whose work led to the development of GPS technology She contributed groundbreaking research in a field where women were once the majority, despite facing barriers of race and gender. Shocking right!! It should be noted that in the early days, women dominated the tech industry. They were the first programmers, Mathematicians and problem-solvers. However, with the discovery of the lucrative nature in the tech space, men took the lead and pushed women to the margins. This irony thereby fuels the mission of Data Girl Technologies, to correct the historical wrongs by empowering more women with skills to reclaim their space in tech.
