.NET 10 will improve JSON Parsing: No More Performance Losses! Four hours ago, I was watching the .NET live stream… and one feature caught my eye! 👀 I went back to dig into the .NET 10 roadmap on GitHub (link in the comments), and this time, one update stood out: 🎯 ASP.NET Core will finally leverage PipeReader and PipeWriter for JSON parsing! 📌 The Problem Today When we think of JSON parsing in .NET, System.Text.Json immediately comes to mind. (Unless you’re still a die-hard NewtonSoft fan like I used to be 😅) But here’s the issue: Currently, JsonSerializer APIs rely on Streams to read and write JSON data. The downside? Unnecessary memory allocations and extra buffer copies that impact performance, especially for high-traffic APIs. 🔥 What’s Changing in .NET 10 ? With PipeReader and PipeWriter, we’ll finally get: ✅ Reduced memory allocations ✅ No more unnecessary buffer copies ✅ Optimized JSON serialization & deserialization 📌 Why is This a Game-Changer? ASP.NET Core will be able to harness these new APIs to enhance model binding and request parsing. In short: less overhead, more scalability for REST and gRPC services! And so, the #GlobalGameJam 2025 has started. At the Milan event (organized by IGDA Italy and hosted by SAE Institute Milano) we had a huge support from Packt (with a little help from yours truly, being a Packt advisor) sending us a bunch of copies of "Game Development Patterns with Godot 4" by Henrique Campos along with a discount voucher. I'm participating as a mentor, so it may be the right time for me to grab a copy and read it during my spare time.
