What an inspirational October, the month designated #PINK by The World Health Organization in a global effort to raise awareness and fight against breast cancer which amounts for about 38% of cancers in women. As we say goodbye to the month of October, the women of our Douala Office Team stand in solidarity with the millions of women afflicted by this terrible disease. A study found that mortality rates linked to breast cancer in sub-Saharan Africa are among the highest globally, with a devastating 70% detection rate at advanced stages. Early detection can save lives by significantly improving the chances of a successful outcome! #PinkOctober serves as a vital reminder of the ongoing health challenges faced by women across the world, and more particularly in Africa. Currently only 50% of women in sub-Saharan Africa survive five years post-diagnosis compared to over 90% in high-income countries with affordable health care. As part of our work place wellness strategy, #EpenaLaw organised a private Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar with Expert Gynecologist, Dr. PAJIP. We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. PAJIP for their expertise and commitment to women's health and for the very comprehensive breast cancer awareness session held at our Douala office on Friday 25th of October. #PinkOctober may come to an end but the fight does not end there.
