Since it is no longer legal for homes to be suspended over a creek in #California, Suspension #House followed strict guidelines on how use the existing structure as the basis for #design. Instead of bearing down and disturbing the creek below, the new structural system has been anchored to the bedrock within the flanks of the hill, suspending the home completely over the water. https://ow.ly/MF4V50T1J2U

Originally built as a simulated #church building of a European Town theme park fifteen years ago, The Old Chapel is not a conventional renewal of old buildings, but a rebirth of existing ones. The #design was based on "demolition art" where the finishing materials are carefully peeled off artificially from the building surface, and the reinforced concrete slabs of the roof are finely cut and dismantled. Multiple cross steel-wood installation were implanted by the original concrete roof structure to shape the light and shadow of the high-angle subtropical sun in the open site of the church. https://ow.ly/sRhF50SZ2FI

The structure of the Rising Star #School in Hopley is characterized by round #arches that have been entirely handcrafted. New York has unveiled #NYC’s first-ever floating swimming + POOL at Pier 35. This month, a three-month water filtration demonstration project will begin to ensure the #pool meets health and safety standards. In the summer of 2025, this first-of-its-kind floating pool is set to undergo final testing. The plus-shaped pool filters over a million gallons of river water daily without chemicals, and has been supported by a state investment aimed at scaling the project statewide. https://ow.ly/tmmR50SWA5T

Eldorado Tres #House is a #renovation of a 50-year-old home with a striking circular living room. The inward-focused orientation of the space was incompatible with today's informal country club living, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and multi-generational activities, so the architects demolished the existing structure and let the new design be informed by the original curving geometry. https://ow.ly/ieYb50SUr1o
