Congratulations to Astellas Pharma for the FDA approval of their monoclonal antibody Vyloy (zolbetuximab-clzb)! First approved by Japan in March this year, Vyloy is a claudin 18.2-directed cytolytic antibody approved to treat advanced gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancer whose tumors are CLDN18.2 positive. Vyloy works by targeting and binding to CLDN18.2, a transmembrane protein, thus depleting CLDN18.2-positive cells via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC).
