They work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are key in the production of prostaglandins that cause inflammation and pain. 🌟 Inhibition of Inflammatory Mediators: Research has shown that certain imidazole derivatives can effectively reduce the release of pro-inflammatory mediators and inhibit the activity of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a key transcription factor in the inflammatory response. 🌟 Pharmacophore: The imidazole nucleus is a significant pharmacophore in drug design, with a wide range of biological actions associated with it, including antiarrhythmic, HIV-RT inhibitor, antiulcer, and cytotoxicity properties.
