📣 Clyde & Co’s US trial team recently secured a complete defense verdict in a $30 million Washington jury trial. The matter stemmed from an admitted liability T-bone vehicle accident that took place August 2019. The Plaintiff alleged a traumatic brain injury, post concussive syndrome, PTSD, anxiety, depression, neck and back injuries (including thoracic outlet syndrome), semicircular canal dehiscence requiring a future surgery, injury to his pituitary gland causing human growth hormone deficiencies, low testosterone, and erectile dysfunction. The Plaintiff also claimed he had ongoing pain and suffering, loss of normal life, and was permanently disabled. The Plaintiff asked the jury to award him $30 million. After deliberating for six hours, they reached a complete defense verdict. This verdict demonstrates our trial team’s understanding involving the complex risks and challenges our clients navigate today. ➡ Read more: https://bit.ly/4ibfMn2

Hi everyone, I’m Kate H., Legal Director in our Manchester office and Head of the Motor Crime Team at Clyde & Co. Today, I’m sharing my story on Clyde and Co’s LinkedIn page. I represent drivers involved in serious and fatal road traffic collisions and advise corporates. My job can be challenging, as my clients have often been through a traumatic experience and may face the possibility of a custodial sentence. From my days in law school, I knew I wanted to be a criminal solicitor because I wanted to represent real people and ensure a just outcome. Since joining Clyde & Co in 2017, I’ve truly appreciated the flexibility my role offers. Clyde & Co’s commitment to flexible working allows me to work hard when needed, while also balancing family life. It’s a balance that all parents strive for, and I’m fortunate to have found a firm and a department that understands the needs of working parents. This support helps me stay committed and responsive to my clients. 📸 Me with my friend Francesca Girardot. We became best friends from our first day at UCL and worked together for six years in London.

According to Save the Children International, one billion children live in countries at extreme risk of climate change. That’s why we’re proud to be part of a groundbreaking new collaboration between eight law firms and Save the Children Global Ventures (SCGV), an investment arm of Save the Children UK. Legal Charter 1.5 will see the member law firms provide funding for projects that deploy nature-based solutions to improve community resilience, with the initial funding proposed for agroforestry and reforestation in and around the tea-growing areas of the Nandi region in Kenya where child poverty, malnutrition and food insecurity are high, and climate change is impacting farmers. With lawyers playing a vital role in supporting climate transition, this collaboration demonstrates how the legal sector can support climate transition with new ways of working.
