As the 1920s ended, Croda made a significant breakthrough with the development of 'Croda Fluid' — a rust preventive born out of a collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory. After the lab confirmed lanolin's superior anti-corrosive properties, we began manufacturing this revolutionary product. The initial production was simple yet effective, using a 30% solution of lanolin in white spirits. In 1925, a young 22-year-old named A.P. (Philip) Wood arrived in Yorkshire from Greece, eager to embark on a new venture for his uncle, George Crowe. His first day at the Rawcliffe Bridge site marked the beginning of Croda's story, with Wood overseeing the construction and production of our first batches of lanolin. Despite early challenges, including a failing process and difficult trading conditions, Wood's persistence and optimism kept the business afloat. Working tirelessly from a small house on-site, Wood dedicated his evenings to creating direct mail campaigns, a strategy that would become crucial to Croda's early success. By October 1925, the first order of lanolin left the works, and Croda began to take shape. As the decade ended, the business faced near insolvency, but in 1929, everything changed for Croda. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, one that would see the company grow beyond Wood's wildest dreams. #Croda100

Graduate Trainees from Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea recently participated in an inspiring training week at Croda Singapore! The group visited the Seraya manufacturing site, starting with a guided tour focused on the site’s history, industry partnerships, sustainability initiatives, and safe operations practices. The trainees had the chance to observe critical areas, including the operating alkylation and esterification plants, wastewater recycling unit, heat recovery system, solar panels, automated packaging areas, and quality control laboratory. This experience provided the Graduated with insights to help shape their future careers at Croda.
