🦘Freshippo's private label products enter the southern hemisphere for the first time After this year's products were exported to the United States and Singapore, Freshippo has formally entered the southern hemisphere market. Before the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, Freshippo's private label products are now on sale at eBest, Australia’s leading online Asian supermarket. "This time, we chose Australia as the third destination, looking forward to further expanding the influence of Chinese cuisine by joining hands with eBest and delivering Freshippo's commodities to the tables of Chinese in the Southern Hemisphere quickly," said Xu Yanni, head of Freshippo's overseas business. The SKUs of Freshippo's private label products entering Australian supermarkets this time have increased by 40 compared with the previous ones. Besides snacks, sauces, and staple food categories successfully exported to the sea before, water drinks, soups, and congee, a kind of convenient food popular among Chinese consumers, have also been added. eBest's Chief Operating Officer, Chen Fengze, said that the importation of Freshippo will further enrich the variety of local Asian supermarkets, which is not only an accurate response to the needs of Chinese consumers but also can provide Australian consumers with the taste of modern Chinese cuisine. "The rise of multi-ethnic supermarkets is becoming a global phenomenon, and we welcome Freshippo's arrival in Australia as an important step in that direction." 🚢 Freshippo Private Label Goes Global Freshippo’s private-label products have recently made a debut at Ranch 99 Market, the largest Chinese supermarket chain in the United States, and Yamibuy, the largest online retailer of Asian goods and groceries in North America. Chinese delicacies, including snacks such as cranberry hawthorn strips and sea salt toffee, condiments including mixed seasoning bags and culinary sauces, and staple foods like sliced noodles and Longkou vermicelli, are among the best-selling products. The launch marks an industry milestone as this is the first time a domestic Chinese supermarket has initiated the large-scale export of their self-branded products overseas. Demonstrating strong product and supply chain capabilities, Freshippo’s private-label products, such as Freshippo Daily Fresh, Freshippo Kitchen, and Difresco, have been widely favored by consumers since its introduction in 2017. In 2022, Freshippo’s private-label brands ranked first among Chinese retailers with a 41% proactive mention rate and 93% brand awareness. “We found that the seasonings sold in Chinese supermarkets in the US and Australia are mostly single-ingredient, whereas Freshippo’s compound seasonings can help Chinese people living overseas more easily prepare complex Chinese dishes,” said Yanni XU, Export Manager of International Business at Freshippo. Additionally, Freshippo’s snacks also enhance the variety available in these supermarkets, offering consumers a greater range of flavors. In the first week of its launch on Yamibuy, Freshippo’s private label products quickly rose to the top of the new product rankings on both the East and West Coast of the US. 🌍 Freshippo participates in the Roadshow E-commerce Italia-China, bridging Chinese taste with Italian gourmet On April 12, Roadshow E-commerce Italia-China was successfully held in Verona, Italy. As a representative enterprise of China's new retail, Freshippo attended the forum. During the forum, YAN Xiaolei, CEO of Freshippo and Freshippo's International General Manager JIA Meng (Melody), shared the “Global Go” cross-border new retail strategy and negotiated with several Italian companies for cooperation. Freshippo has upgraded its global business strategy since November 2023, aiming to bring a better quality of life for Chinese consumers through setting up a global supply chain network, making best use of places of origin advantages and processing advantages. We have already established strong links with Italian partners. In July 2020, Freshippo and the Italian Trade Agency jointly held a two-week "Italian Gourmet Week", Chinese consumers were able to purchase and experience various imported Italian cuisine without going outside. In Freshippo Premier, abundant imported Italian products will be introduced to upgrade customers' lifestyles. Freshippo Premier is going to be the hub for Italian merchandise to first launch in the Chinese market. Currently, Freshippo is going to expand its cooperation with Italian organic wineries and launch private-label organic wines tailored to the preferences of Chinese consumers. 🤝 Freshippo Shenzhen store welcomes nearly 70 visitors from Hong Kong school Last week, our Shenzhen store welcomed nearly 70 visitors from Hong Kong Chong Gene Hang College. Ms. Chang Siu Ching, Vice-Principal of Hong Kong Chong Gene Hang College, said that the students were amazed by our automated delivery track and packaging logistics, automated checkout, and on-site cookery. Xie Ling, Public Affairs Manager for Freshippo in Shenzhen, explained that all the store’s product labels are digital, allowing customers to scan them for more information. Xie Ling also mentioned that staff members pick products based on online orders and deliver packages using the delivery baskets on the mechanical track. Xie Ling said that Freshippo expects to develop a fully robotic packing and delivery service in stores in the future. 🛒We have opened ten new stores nationwide We have opened ten new stores in various Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Chengdu and Hefei at the end of 2023. We now have more than 350 stores in 28 cities, offering customers across the country a range of fresh, high-quality food. One of our new stores is near LoWu and Liantang Ports in Shenzhen, which offers expanded areas for dining, bakery, flowers and fresh-cut fruits, and provides customers with access to more than 4,000 product lines. We have been attracting more shoppers from Hong Kong since the resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and mainland China, with our Freshippo Supermarket in Wong Tee Plaza, Shenzhen contributing the highest sales and drawing the most customers nationwide during November 2023. 🏆Freshippo wins multiple PLF Private Label Golden Star Awards We are proud to have won multiple awards at the 7th PLF Private Label Golden Star Awards Ceremony, as public recognition of our self-branded products gradually increases. The PLF exhibition is one of the world's top three professional exhibitions for self-branded products, and it has significant industry influence. A total of 261 products from 52 companies competed this year, making it the largest and most competitive event in its history. We received an"Excellent Product Award" and an "Outstanding Marketing Award." The Freshippo team also received an "Excellent Team Award." In terms of packaging design, our milk blends and Chinese-style series of dishes were appreciated by the judges, with the Chinese-style series of dishes combining elements of Eastern culture and provoking great interest. In terms of products, our “emperor” series of fresh seafood series, “treasure” series of semi-finished fresh seafood dishes, our fresh oysters originating from Dalian, and cartoon-shaped comical dishwashing sponges were all very popular. In addition, we won three awards in The Third Everest Award Ceremony, marking the third time Freshippo has received this award. Our self-branded products have been receiving increasingly positive reviews on social networks. As of the end of 2022, our self-branded product sales accounted for 35% of total sales, with the proportion of self-branded products expected to increase further. 🌍Freshippo demonstrates climate resilience measures at COP28 Freshippo attended the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) and contributed a speech at the COP28 China Corner's Side Event, showcasing its climate resilience measures and proactive actions to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Through our digital technology and new retail capabilities, we have developed scenario-based strategies to address agricultural challenges and support climate adaptation. For example, we assisted peach farmers in reducing waste caused by an unexpected hailstorm in 2022. Additionally, at our 200-mu desert organic base in the Ulan Buh Desert in Inner Mongolia, where we cultivate pumpkins and contribute to the local climate and environment. We are committed to leveraging the advantages of a retail enterprise to promote better climate consensus among the public, using products as a vehicle for climate education and helping consumers develop climate awareness in their daily lives. 🌱 Social – We employ almost 300 disabled people. December 3rd was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and we’re proud to share that we employ almost 300 disabled people in a variety of roles at Freshippo. We’re dedicated to helping our disabled staff fulfill their potential and removing barriers to their career progression. Most of our disabled personnel work in sorting, bakery production, and store operations – and in some other areas too. We offer extra orientation training to all our disabled employees, and we prioritize their needs when organizing shifts. We use digital tools to level the playing field for our disabled staff. For example, hearing-impaired staff can access product information on devices instead of relying on oral communication when sorting products in our warehouses. We believe that everyone, especially disabled people, deserves care and support from their employer. We hope that in future, more employers will assist disabled people to start a fulfilling career. 🤝 Partnerships – Freshippo enters dozens of partnerships worth RMB10 billion or more. Our recent conference for new retailers has yielded new RMB10 billion partnerships between Freshippo and dozens of suppliers, including 新希望集团 New Hope Group , Jinmailang, Classy-Kiss, and more. Hou Yi, Freshippo CEO, recently visited retail supermarkets in Spain, Poland, and other European countries. At the conference, he said, "Discounting is a global trend, and it's also one of the Chinese retail industry's goals for innovation. The discounting operational model approach is about reducing the price of quality products as opposed to selling cheap products. Freshippo will never compromise on product quality, and through our highly efficient supply chain we'll continue to develop high-quality products." Freshippo has also announced the second batch of 19 suppliers that have been awarded the "Freshippo Brand" label. These companies have been Freshippo partners for more than three years, have a business scale of more than RMB100 million, and include suppliers of craft beer and tofu, among others.
