💡 For organizations and brands, the journey to discover purpose begins with a fundamental question: “Why do you exist, beyond profit?” https://lnkd.in/gJV5HCRS Here are four powerful strategies to help recalibrate your thinking around purpose: ✅ Shake Things Up: Utilize IDEO’s “Purpose Wheel” to explore various purpose categories and spark meaningful discussions within your team. ✅ Get Out of Your Own Head: Gather “love letters” from employees and stakeholders to uncover what makes your organization truly special. ✅ Focus on Your “Why”: Use Simon Sinek's Golden Circle to clarify the emotional core of your purpose, distinguishing between what you do, how you do it, and why you do it. ✅ Fast Forward to the Future: Imagine your organization’s purpose 5, 10, or 15 years down the line to ensure it remains relevant and aspirational.

While I often bemoan "tech CEO hero worship culture" in the tech industry, this week's Make Sense guest Dan Perkel (Partner @ IDEO) reminded me that having people to aspire to is perfectly human. So what are the traits of the Tech CEO our future needs? How can you be truly innovative, capture a market, and carry yourself admirably? Dan and I answer this question, and: 👉 Play the first round of "Never Have I Ever", a new segment where we laugh about past internet habits 👉 Discuss AI, copyright, and the evolving definition of theft online 👉 Invite YOU to join the conversation on how design and business can contribute to a human-first future In the comments, I link directly to the conversation with Dan Perkel ****** For more discussions on the impact of technology on our everyday lives, pragmatically and without jargon, follow me here on LinkedIn. #TheFutureIsComingOn #technology #socialmedia #futurism #techtalks #techtrends #artificialintelligence #ai #genai #emergingtechnology #digitaladoption #innovation #productmanagement

The future of #emergingtechnology is so bright, we've gotta wear shades. 😎 Recently, our team was invited to be part of the development program of Snap Inc.'s spectacles. We're delighted to prototype new interactions enabled by this #AR #XR device.

IDEO Cambridge recently hosted the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) to connect on the impact of #AI on the #industrialdesign process. In classic IDEO #designthinking, we asked them to write their raw thoughts on post-its: hopes, fears, questions, and more. We clustered the findings while doing some AI share-outs and had an open conversation on the hottest topics like: 🔹Should AI be part of the org structure of a company? If it’s a thinking partner, how do we resolve it with “HR”? 🔹Sustainability was the main focus of our conversations before AI and now it seems to have disappeared from conversation. Could we solve one problem with another? 🔹How is the role of an Industrial Designer changing to adapt AI as a creative tool or creative thought partner? 🤔 How is your organization continuing to think about the impact of AI in your business?

Great learnings coming out of TEDAI San Francisco including the nature of time, the power of language, transcending human cognitive limitations...and even talking to whales! 🧠🐋

Curious to learn how the industrial design field was exploring AI into their process beyond the obvious Midjourney induced fever dream 'ideation' and augmentation of concept renders, Jenna Fizel and Ziyuan(Zoey) Zhu of IDEO present on their use of emerging technologies at CDFAM - Computational Design Symposium in NYC. The full presentation is available on Youtube: https://lnkd.in/e_fA2GN8 And will soon be available as a podcast if you subscribe https://lnkd.in/epit7W-j

Responsible #design (aka inclusive design, ethical design, or even respectful design) has been a focus for decades. At IDEO, it’s been a movement most recently organized by the Inclusive Design Collective (IDC), a fast-growing crew that meets regularly to discuss design, interrogate our processes, and consider the potential consequences of our work, socially and environmentally. We believe that: 🔹Inclusive design is at the heart of global scaling 🔹Gen Z won’t mess with anything that’s not inclusive 🔹In many sectors, responsible design won’t be a choice—it will be an obligation 🔹Consumer preferences are changing, and businesses that only care about shareholder growth may be penalized 🔹Responsible design creates better products Discover more about our approach from our team at https://lnkd.in/gtjE4jXy
